Colo. authorities target alleged medical-pot ring

DENVER – Colorado authorities have shut down what they say was a scheme using photocopied medical-marijuana patient records to illegally sell the drug for as much as $7,000 per pound.
Attorney General John Suthers said Friday that seven people have been indicted on charges of producing the marijuana in northern Colorado. Two more are accused of selling the pot.
The suspects are accused of coming from New Mexico to use Colorado's medical marijuana law as a cover to grow and sell the drug to anyone willing to pay. Authorities say they seized more than 110 pounds of processed marijuana worth an estimated $375,000, 687 marijuana plants, nine firearms and $175,000 in cash.
Medical marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2000.
