Just recieved my controlled ai+. i recieved it through a giveaway. will be uploading pictures, thoughts, and differences from the 69 pro. Hoping to spread info and answers about this new product. I am not an affiliate, just a homegrower that got lucky

so the first day or so i was kinda stressed out and didnt trust the ai because it was doing things way differently than i had set on my 69 pro. i knew what worked at that moment but the ai was making it weird. but over each day i let the ai get another piece of equipment as i realized it was learning and testing things out to see how the environment reacted.

very similiarly to what i did or probably most people did with their 69 pro to get it figured out and dialed in

I'm still on the 69 Pro ... How do you set the Leaf temperature offset? I'm guessing you measure the leaf temps and just dial in the difference from tent temps? If my temps are 80 and leaf surface is 75, do I input -5 ?

when i was using it, i was just doing it by 2 because thats what the internet said it was most likely. i know that's not helpful. but i didnt have the ability to measure my leaf temps. if you do then yes thats what you would input

Input whatever ya want but watch humidity. I like using it ( offset ) cause it drives humidity up and down about .7%. our vdp settings do not recognize a decimil point to set at say 1.35 so by adding the offset you cheat 😜.
Recently noticed the response from the plants when you keep min and max for vdp below .08 This spec is very useful for watching transperation take place. My system will get there but when the plants take the humidity add load and the thermoforge just about shuts down you get a basically strait line for hours and huge growth. At that point I keep telling myself there is nothing I can do adjusting or rotating plants that will make the grow conditions any better so go back upstairs.

I just barely noticed the VPD tab on this controller...it's a God Send. Just dial in where you want it and it does the rest for ya!

I just measured the leaf surface.. 2 degrees cooler .. 🤣 well well..

Now that you have been using it for a while, do you recommend upgrading from the 69 pro? I have been using the pro version for several years now. There's a lot of good things with the device ... and a few things I'd like to see changed.

I'm curious what your over-all impression is and if it is worth paying to upgrade to the AI version.

i ran the 69 pro for about a year but before that id never used any automation. id taken a break from growing for 3 years and everything became automated at a decent price for home growers so i tried it.
Even the AI version is priced reasonably enough not to break the bank. I like many of the features on the pro version, but not all of them. For example, I have the dongle to plug in my 630 watt nanolux LED fixture into the UIS system, but even though it turns the light on and off on queue, it leaves the green LED display on during the dark cycle ... I realize that many people buy into the notion that green isn't seen by the plants, but newer studies have shown that isn't completely the truth. Light is light and green light is still light. To me, the dark cycle should be 100% dark ... no glow from anything inside the tent. Aside from that, I have been pleased with the automation at an affordable price on the pro version.

@DaddyPrime2 - can you please share in a couple of paragraphs what pros and cons the AI version has compared to the Pro. Also, can you explain more about how AI goes about tuning in your grow parameters? I'm interested and would like to hear more from someone who isn't trying to sell me something.

i like it. its easier if youre aiming for vpd rather than temp and humidity triggers. it was hard for me to get used to it at first because with the 69pro you kind of have to figure out your lung room and you have to play around with it and adjust things sometimes as you probably already know.

i like that the controller and the app shows what the lung room conditions are at as well so you can kind of double check whether its running like it should be. as in pulling more air or less air depending on what youre wanting

if i hadnt been gifted this through a contest i probably wouldnt have upgraded. i dont think it necessarily gives me better results or worse for that matter.

my advice would be to make sure you have a full set up. like humidifier as well because you wont get the full experience without it in my opinion atleast.

id like to see changed having the ability to choose the limit of the vpd as in like dont go above 60%humidity because in vpd mode if my temps get above 80 then the rh starts getting a little high but that in turn does keep my temps down compared to if i only let it get to 60 or so.

this is my first run using an aci light with the aci controllers and i havent yet used the dynamic lighting setting which could prove useful with these summer temps. but previously ive only used a mars hydro light with the aci controllers.

yeah i was just typing up a reply to you. any other questions id be willing to try an answer

year i recently had to take a green light out of my tent because i think it was causing the plants closest to it to herm. i thought it was a coincidence but thinking about it more and the only time i had herm plants were in the same exact spot in my tent where that green light was

Thank you for that. I appreciate your insight on things. I used VPD triggers with my Pro version and was comfortable doing so. I also have a good number of ACI gear, just not everything and I'm not going to upgrade my Nanolux or either of my ROI E-720's for an ACI light fixture. Yes ACI makes good gear ... but my lights are very good on their own and don't need upgrading.

Bingo ... I've known a good number of growers who stated pretty much the same thing about "green lights" and herms.

yeah i wouldnt have upgraded my light but i was also gifted this in a live stream so figured id see what i could produce with it out of curiosity. I didnt like the app and the adapters for my mars hydro light. i couldnt adjust brightness level through the app only manually. so all it did was turn the light on an off

This post just blew up today for some reason lol
I'm not sure why it "blew up" today ... I can say this though the UIS system is a very helpful system. I use it and think it makes a good number of things much easier. I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone when it comes to curiosity over the AI version ...

So my 69 pro just arrived today. I've got 2 cloudline fans and a humidifier to hook up to it? My intake is also from outdoors. Does the 69 pro still use the temp readout from the cloudline fans or only the sensor that came with the new unit? Like could I put the intake fan probe outside or does it have to go in the tent? When you say it reads the lung room is that from a separate internal sensor?

Any tips or advice on how to get started with this thing would be appreciated!
