that "Chemical Taste" may be placebo
because you arent putting Chemicals in you flowers
and every mineral is used in your plant
I would be more prone to thinking you may not have dried and cured your flowers properly
the only way cannabis can have a manipulated taste or smell is if the feed you use has esthers in it....which are stored in the leaves of the plant
that chemmy tste could also be that particular flowers flavor...as some do taste and smell "chemical"

Well Im not so for sure that is why you got chemical taste because chemicals dont actually make it into the flowers. It might have been strain or pheno dependant... just my opinion..
I do however use a florakleen the last week and then I run the buckets dry a few days and start thr drying/curing process while its finishing..
I think how fast you dry is way more important to how the final taste is, than what your thinking.. I would say that overfeeding does inhibit terpene production somewhat and could take away from what the strain can put out.....

How do you guys go about drying after harvest? Just put dehumidifier @55 RH in tent and turn everything else off? I think this may be where i messed up a bit on my last run.. :(

Its weird because the bud just doesn't really have much flavor and is almost a bit harsh.. But the wax & rosin i made from the trim/nugs tastes great, just like it smelled when i chopped them down... only other thing i can think is i didnt flush them long enough?

I say dried too quick or too long...
I hang my branches with fan leaves removed for 14 days at 60* and 60% rh.
I use my grow room to keep it at them numbers. Ac, dehuey, huey, and complete darkness.
I use a fan the last couple days blowing on low aimed at the floor just to get air movement...
Then I throw it in a 5 gal bucket for a few days, then I seal her up and put it in the crisper in the fridge where it stays till I take a few bugs out every couple days..

Going by what you said, that would make flushing a waste of time, no?

I do pretty much the same. I sectioned off a Area in my room with panda film to keep dark. Have a small clip fan blowing downward. My temps are 70 and rh 60. Hang with leaves (minus big fans) for about 7 days.
I fill in quart jars and burp twice a day 15 min first week then once a day second week and until cured. Then I jar it. I burp every 3-4 days for next couple weeks unless I'm lazy. Lol.
I started in outdoor so a proper dry and cure is essential to not getting that outdoor hay taste

hmm, took about 10 -12 days before i jar'd them. I used a drying net rack type thing cause i couldn't figure out how to hang them nicely with stuff i had on hand, my lights are huge and ultra heavy and i didnt want to take them down...

One thing that i think i messed up on in the drying process is that for my a/c & dehumidifier i built a little lung room/box and have inline hurricane fans circulating air from that box into the tent and i was running those fans full speed with the temp set at 70 RH set at 55/60.. next time i think I'm going to significantly slow down the circulation fans with speed controllers..

I did almost exactly what you do... except i did it in my grow tent.. It doesn't smell or taste like hay and actually i think smells pretty good, especially if you start breaking it up and what not. Taste is just harsh/not there though... (might have to get better at regularly burping my jars, maybe thats where i went wrong..)

Hey Event, I'm thinking about starting a thread about what I'm learning about broad mites and russet mites. I see it is starting to become more common in the US and it is most often misdiagnosed as heat stress. What forum should I use?

Edit... there are already a lot of threads with people asking about these mites or asking about problems they have that are caused by these mites. But I didn't see anything dedicated to explaining how to identify and get rid of them.

see you had your rh a tad low and you exacerbated the problem with the fans..
You know grow room mathematics
1 problem x 1 problem= 10000 freaking problems

no not at all
the dry/cure process is a 2 step process
but....
by flushing the media....you are quickening the process
so the entire point of curing is to let microbes break down Chlorophyll
by forcing the plant to use up all mobile nutrients in the plant it is essentially breaking down chlorophyll before you even start the dry process
