Right on brother. Shoot me a good setup for around 100$ and i will get it before we ever get to flower. I swear i think this full spectrum light is whats been causingnmy headaches man. Seems like ever sense i got that light i get headaches a couple days aweek

I get headaches every once and a while and i hate them, definitely could be linked to your headaches imo.. Hopefully switching to an hid light will help but you should seriously consider getting some protective glasses for when you are working in your garden.

I wear sunglasses anyways with my cree's
just because they are so bright that they have the potential to harm your eyes

? bout these cobs with passive cooling,
do they emitt more heat from the face where the cob is mointed or from the pins?
would it be benificial to have them "outside the grow area?
do i want lots of contact between hs and the plate im mounting it to, alu.. or will that make the mounting plate to a heater?

I could see there being a problem with the glass lenses, but I have the reflectors on mine.

I mean, if you're dumb enough to stare directly at a COB chip pushing 75 watts that's just Darwinism as far as I'm concerned. I will say the blurple light used to fuck with my eyes when I used the Vipars.

I'm not all too often below eye level of the light really. Just when I'm watering. Even then, I'm below canopy level and not looking up at the light.

What do you plan on running them at? As in, what driver/how many cobs?

Like I said, mine are all fan cooled and literally emit next to zero heat. Might raise the tent temp 2-3 degrees. So, I can't imagine a passively cooled chip (most likely pushing less than the 75w a piece I'm using) pushes all that much heat either.

I am not sure what you question actually is
you want to mount the COB's outside the grow area?
Cobs dont really emit much heat from the cob itself
as there is no IR
and the pins or fin sink heats about the same as a car stereo amp
which easily is sucked out by a carbon filter and fan combo
