Do some diodes take more juice to light? I have a viparspectra 100 watt light with Samsung diodes and this thing gets hot. Crazy amount of heat coming off of it.
Then I have a Mars Hydro 425 watt light with Bridgelux diodes. This thing doesn't even get warm. If I had the ViparSpectra light in my tent Temps would be uncontrollable. Why such a temp difference? Drivers?

It's possible and perhaps likely that different diodes would have different efficiencies. That's probably true for drivers, too. I have ViparSpectra and AC Infinity lights. The AC Infinity light's driver gets very hot and that tent always runs hot, so I'm thinking about moving the driver outside the tent. The heat from the lights and drivers is a good reason to exhaust from the top of the tent.

Drivers, heat sinks, spread, placment, deflectors. They all play their part in the performance of the equipment. Oh also diodes themselves, yes.

With great power, comes with great responsibility...

I’m sure there is a ton of difference in how each of these fixture put off heat.
