cureing

Hi guys my name is brian i am new to this fourm. Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but hear goes. I have been growing for years in an out doors. i can grow the plant but when it come to that time to dry them they get messed up. I cut the big fans off and hang the hole plant for 5 to 7 days at 70* and 55 to 50 % humidity. they smell dank at this point. I trim them up and jar them they are dry at this point but not crumbily yet. An from this point on it just dont smell like the dank bud you would get at a dispensory. I burp the jars but just cant get the taste and the smell to come out. This seems to happen every time i harvest I am discouraged but i dont want to give up. I have looked all over the net and find the same thing. If a pro could lead me in the right direction it would help me alot

ya i have ordered some 8 gram 62% packs should be coming in today. The strains I grew are blue dream, pineapple skunk, staked kush and bubblegum. the only one that smells is the kush it smells like lemons but does not have the taste the blue dream not impressed but never smoked it before so no sure what is suppose to smell like. I just ope I dident mess this round up to 12 plants. It doesent smell like hay or wet grass so thats a good thing but u guy know what Im talking about when u get some dank and ur buddy can smell it in ur pocket I cant seem to get to that point. Maybe its strain dependent thing. I hope the humidity packs help.

any body else out there could use some help. put some 62% packs in the jars cuz i thought i over dryed them but i guess not. they do not crumble so im guessing there is still moisture in the buds. I hung the hole plant till stems cracked not in 2 thow. then trimmed them up and jared them. the only strain that smell good is the staked kush which smell almost like lemons but theres no taste. the other ones not to sure about. the bubblegum smells sweet but also no taste. not sure what the blue dream is supose to smell like but also no taste. I used house an garden line coco a/b. Not sure what im doing wrong here but seems like every time i get the ame result bud looks killer but the smell and taste is lacking. Is a strain suppose to smell good from the start or does it come on later. the stuff smelled grate while growing. They have been in the jars for about a week and a half. endless im not letting then sit long enough.

how long as in days do you cure?
Im always 30 days min. In glass....regular burps, some strains even longer.
Sooner or later kaboom. Be patient. my.02

its been week and a half maybe 2 weeks. Just kind of nervous cuz never yielded this much. Im going to pickup a hygrometer today that can fit in a jar and see what the humidity is in there.

The drying process "hanging plants" Can be considered part of the curing stage. If you can be at 50 degrees with 50% humidity then you can dry and cure at the same time. When a plant dries to fast it effects the terpines which in turn effect the smell. A 7-10 day hang is best. I only jar up my personal and cure for a but longer for that stonier effect. My nugs smell exactly the same before and after the trim and don't need to be put in a jar and cured before dispensing. Practice makes perfect and that's in the grow room and in the drying room. So it's more like perfect practice makes perfect medicine. Learn from your mistakes for sure. One more thing. If you going to control your grow room environment why not control your drying room. That's the most important step in the process. Seems like most take it to lightly and it's for sure not something to be taken lightly. I don't jar cure really as i feels it only makes my meds stonier not smellier. If i place in a jar and burp accordingly the only noticeable difference is that the meds are slightly stonier. I don't notice any increase in smell. My medicine smells the best after a 7-10 day drying/curing process in a controlled environment. I don't sit on anything. When it's dry it's done and my patients love it. Only one patient likes the cured meds but that's due to a slightly increased couchlock effect/pain relief effect and he's in lot's of pain

Ok thanks guys.I know i have been at least getting a little better at the cureing since the first time i ever jared anything just cant seem to get it down but i know i will just want to thank u guys againfor the help. I have been thinking of a sealed room but that"s later on i have to get this curein down. I purchased a digital hygrometer yesterday and put it in the big jar i have off all the nice tops after about the humidity was 52 is this a good thing or did i over dry.

We all have a hard time waiting to taste our new gear. I always pull an early kola for fun.
After a few runs your gonna be silk.
Soon.... youll be able to reach in the jars and know by touch n smell. patience.....

Unfortunately my limited space and conditions dont allow for controlled conditions so I use this system. Im my only patient. I have strains I been cureing for a year. Heyy its all good, different strokes right....

I use jars and evacuate the air with a seal-a-meal attachment. Are you guys all doing this or did you know there is such a thing?

I still burp them after having them vac'd but we WERE doing a lot of trimming before being totally dry. IF it is really dry the vacuating keeps it fresher. This year I will only put in jars after totally dry.

burping seems to be working for me so im just goin to keep doing what i am doing. Also what are some really good strains for pain and that have a good dank smell. there is so many strains out there what would you guys recommend. I like the really dense bud. also should i use fem or reg beans. the strains i have now are bubblegum, blue dream, pineapple skunk cheese and lemon kush .
