Basically what I am asking is if cutting off the big fan leaves before hanging to dry will trigger the mowed grass smell and taste in the buds? Or is it ok to cut those off before hanging. I don't want to have that taste with this grow or any future ones.

Cool ty dub. I'll go ahead and do it then when it's time. Save little trouble when the real trimming starts if those are gone.

If you are drying in a low humidity i would say leave thrm on. Otherwise trim them.

It's usually around 65% in my house and 71 f. . Not greatest condition for drieng. So go ahead cut them you think.

I remove all fans only and leave all sugar leaves on when I prep them to dry

Definitely, i would take off the smaller fan leaves to then. Just leave everything with trichomes.

I'm making hash with the trim as well. Should I save the fan leaves for it? I wouldn't think so but I'm not on it.

I've only made it with bud before. My 1st with trim. I don't really expect it to be all that great. I think I'll leave them out. I can't see it improving the quality.

If you’re going to cut them off, I found it’s easier to snip them off, while the plant is in the ground. Then harvest.
