Daisy chain virgin...go easy on me

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. I've upgraded to a 5x10 tent and I am now trying to set up 3 lights in there. 2 of them being Spider Farmer, one is a SF4000 the other is the SE3000. My plan is to daisy chain these two lights together but every single time I connect the RJ12 into the second light the first light turns off. I've tried turning the dimmers both off, both on, one off, one on etc etc. I've tried both using the same CH1, CH2, and both using separate channels. Is it really this difficult? Am I missing something so simple and stupid? Everywhere I read says you can definitely daisy chain together lights of different makes and models.

Bro I couldn't understand daisy chaining either.. I mean I never quite tried but there's def some trick to it.

Can't offer any assistance. I daisy chained my lights but after an hour I had to just sit down and stare at it until I figured it out. lol

Do you have a controller as well? Or just 1 light connected to power, and then the other light getting power via the RJ11 from the daisy chain?

I have a master controller to adjust 3 separate lights. The controller has it's own power supply. All 3 have their own power cord. I guess there's daisy chaining for power and then control. Exact light has 3 drivers so those are Daisey chained.

Imagine 9 elephants. 3 rows. The first elephants trunk is connected to a controller, it's tail is held by the 2nd elephants trunk. And that's how all 9 drivers are connected. Trunk to tail.

I have no clue why elephants but yeah

I gave up and just connected the 3rd light to its own timer and moved some fans onto their own surge protector.

that sucks.. another brand i have has a master/slave switch that works well. i guess the ch 1/2 is like that?
for me i had to set one to Master, and the other to Slave, and it always worked. I only have one Spider Farmer though, I could try chaining all three just to see what happens, but right now it makes sense to have the two like branded together on one channel.

i'm sure you've tried all possibilities, that shit can be frustrating. sometimes the answer comes the next day

I would guess that you need identical lamps to daisy chain?
It was easy peasy to hook up all 6 of my TSL 2000s?

Yeah I thought so too but seems to be common knowledge on the web that you can connect lights of different watts and even brands but I'm not finding that here. I tried to RJ11 from all 3 of the lights from every connector I could think of. No luck.

I tried 3 different cords. All of the lights came with one, so I tried each and every one! lol

Probably the smartest idea but between all the hassle I'm okay with having each light independently plugged in. Just means I have to use 2 timers/power outlets instead of 1.

the rj11 only does the dimmer setting, not run power. so you were always going to need two outlets.

Why not just put a surge strip on one timer? Just make sure the power strip can support the wattage and you should be good.

My brain did think it strange that you could transmit 1000w through a RJ11 cable.

I like to have my fans running 24/7 with my lights and humidifier on a timer, all running off the same outlet/plugged into a watt meter. Good idea though!
