Ive noticed these spots on my leaves that look brown and dead.

1 leaf tip crumbled between my fingers when I went to inspect it.

I am a first time grower so I am unsure if these are cause of a disease, nutrient deficiency or what so if you can help id appreciate it.
My plant is about 6 weeks old and about 10 inches tall. I grow them outside but I bring them in at night. I dont have any grow lights im just using the sun and whatever light they get from the ceiling light

Looks like spill damage. The very bottom are prob laying on the soil over night. Looks a little underwatered in the pic

Some of the upper leaves are showing similar spots on them I was thinking that it may be calcium deficiency but I am unsure

I've been following your thread because I think these are the same spots that I started a thread on a few weeks ago and while they are still on that plant they have not changed at all

I was not able to find out through the thread and not able to find out myself what they are and now I see them on a second plant and they are just as benign on the second plant but I still don't know what they are

My guess would be a pH bounce some plants got hit with 8.9 pH instead of my usual 6.4 but that's just a guess I don't know what plants got the high pH for sure and I don't know if that would be a manifestation of pH bounce in my soil and peat medium mix, usually it manifests in a twisted mosaically spotted leaf

Ok that sounds like not a big deal. I have ph up and down coming in soon so hopefully this doesnt escalate

Finally found the thread, check it out and tell me if you think that's the same thing as you're seeing on your plant?? I think it is

Not positive it's a pH swing causing it that's just a guess

they haven't really changed but I did notice them on a second plant, they're on the edges the same as on your plant and also the random spots here and there so I want to find out what they are that's the link and if you come up with any info please share I certainly will as well good luck

So it's possible that it's a pH balance in your case too, that's very interesting thanks for sharing that

that's the only thing I can see that could be causing it because they haven't changed or gotten necrotic however I'm not positive and I didn't get much input in that thread either I never found out what it was?

Wanted to add that my run off and slurry numbers are perfect so it's not anything to do with the soil or the roots

Also in that thread I said "no pH swings" but that may not be correct

I did accidentally water with an unadjusted 8.9 jug at least four plants and it's possible that these may have been among the ones watered with the high pH

Mine have turned brown too, of course just a guess but I think it's the same thing, too late to grab pictures now but I'll remember in the morning

The good news is it hasn't progressed & the plant is healthy as a horse but I still want to know what is causing it so I don't do it again lol, good luck!

After doing some research i dont think what I have is Leaf Septoria although its a possibility. Im hoping its just a nutrient problem and if it is that should be fixed soon

No it's not leaf septoria that was just a polel I added in the thread I linked to, if you read it I quickly figured out it was not septoria

I've dealt with septoria, the plant would be leafless and near dead by now without treatment if it was septoria

however my point is I think it's the same odd leaf spot that you have

any way it doesn't kill the plant so it should be okay if it's the same thing which it looks like

Ill be keeping my plants separated to prevent this from spreading, just in case. If its not harmfull to the plant then I suppose its fine although I hope I can find a cause and solution and when I do I will share it with you

Sure there are no bugs. Looks like maybe lower leaves second pic.

Might be some thrips

There's never been more than the original few spots that showed up initially , and they haven't changed except they've turned slightly darker?

If it's what I have I don't think it's spreads I have it on 2 out of all the flowering plants and none of the vegetable plants I really do believe it was caused by a pH bounce but I don't know if there's ever a way to be sure? and I'm not positive that you have the same thing although I do believe that it is

And as Mister Mimed pointed out you might want to check for bugs!

I check multiple times a day for bugs all I usually find are flys or a small spider now and then

I also think it's bug damage, most likely thrips I had them last year, a couple of treatments with a spinosad product and they haven't been back

I don't think bugs are responsible for those bigger marks that I'm talking about tho

Anyway as you can see it's an old thread and it hasn't hurt my plant so I'm over it LOL best of luck!
