Buddy Hemphill is right. I have a cultivar that likes to form a fan leaf shell around itself that really shades the interior. A raging fan leaf pluck in week 3 and 8 (of 9)results in an increase in premium material from each specimen.
Of course, there have been other cultivars that had a higher calyx/leaf ratio that I barely plucked. And pissy little bitches don't like to be plucked, so I don't work with them. No time for stupid plants that won't perform.

I have a heavily trained scrog so that the trimming will be easier.
I am on the hunt for something with a good calyx/leaf ratio. I want a low scissor swipe/bushel ratio. Some wifis to select from might be the ticket.
Trimming a certain size room can really wear on a person.
I also am the onliest motherfucker there is come trim time.
Lots of time to think. A lot of thoughts will run through your head.

And let's clarify exactly what Mr. Hemphill was addressing.
Buddy Hemphill claims 1.75 per.
Translation: Buddy Hemphill claims that he receives an average of 1.75 gold stars per smile. So if he smiles 4 times, he will receive a total of 7 gold stars next to his name on the board.
technically, Buddy pulled 7.5 gold stars from his 4 smiles, resulting in a true average of 1.875 gold stars/smile

Good job Buddy! Gold stars for Buddy! Fuck yeah!

Nice pull Buddy! 1.75 is certainly nothing to scoff at.

I remove some fans to allow light penetration to upper growth. Lower growth all gets pruned out. As long as you don't hack the shit out of your plant, it will be fine.

Ever heard of people removing fruit from their fruit trees? Its called thinning, and it allows the tree to produce larger, albeit fewer fruits. Same holds true with herb I believe.

Also, I am a one man army, so I need to keep all larf and popcorn to a bare minimum. Otherwise, I get depressed come trim time.

Thanks dude...

yeah larf sucks. I feel like I did a bad job if there is too much. I hate hearing "hash it out".....lol....

^^this
Thinning... grandpa did it and I saw bigger apples etc where he thinned. The tops always had tons of small tart apples because he could not thin them, these were for pie and apple sauce. The lowers were sweet and twice the size...
Tried and true.. I thin bud sites about one week into flower (not 12/12), if she isn't starting, she isn't gonna...
Don't make her waste energy on useless larf.

^^Kinda rude, I was wondering what "per" meant also until you clarified...

what other increments are there......
^^Quitea few...

Sorry for the 'gray fox to mother squirrel' routine. Some things are better left unsaid in public forums. Allow a man his paranoia.

This was supposed to be about deleafing fans for yeild. Lets go back to that conversation.

Because the plant doesn't give a fuck about producing only premium colas for you or me that are the most dank and valuable.

Take a test plant and let it freestyle, just to see how it wants to behave and what that will do to nug quality up and down the plant. And then plan pruning of that cultivar when you have figured out its behavior. But a whole room full of freestyle plants is a fiasco.

The plant in most ways only cares about that which supports reproduction.
Which means seed generation. It probably wants to form a shell over much of itself to protect a bunch of seed-producing regions from pests and the elements, who knows.

Nature as far as I have seen does not produce quarter-pound colas on waist-high plants. :harvest:

I think people prune roses to win contests too.

Beat me to it.

Yeah Alien said something about paying 25k for a specimen involved in breeding his masterpiece.
25k clone, where have I heard that before...

Yeah, that 200pg trolling flame-fest? Can we take a quick poll for who's read the most pages of that thing before saying screw it and just trying a few plants to figure it out for yourself? And you guys couldn't even get to page two here without people getting banned over it? Classic!

And D-dub, how did I just know I'd find you in here? Waxing poetic truthdoms and doing dry stand-up concurrently. You don't seem to have much of an ego, so I'll quote again your three sentences that take down entirely that whole silly thread:

I have had the same strains long enough to experiment and everyone has produced a lot of validity.imo it is a timing thing and as long as you keep it down to two mass pluckings one at flip, and one before boost once all the sites are set up I think it sheds good light on things.this last run I left way more fan leaves on my hog and I didn't get the development on my lower branches I did defoiliating @4 weeks.very controversial yes.good thread.I have had strains that did not like it whatsoever though,so I am with el cerebro. You have to try it and figure it out per strain
