Desert Dude Learns Some Things About Growing Weed

My plants (3 Bubblegum and 1 Purple Kush) seem to be slow in progressing. Not sure why that is, they have good soil, some nutes and get irrigation. I've been busier than I'd expected to be with band/music projects and don't have a lot of time to baby them...

I've been busier than I'd expected to be with band/music projects and don't have a lot of time to baby them. Within the last couple days I've turned the irrigation down and switched to hand watering where I use some vinegar to bring my high pH water down, that seems to have worked well in the past.

My season can easily last into November so maybe I shouldn't worry too much yet.

I've got a couple new ones up also, a Bubblegum and Purple Kush.

I Moved to the Mojave here in '21 after retiring. In 2024 I got the idea to try growing weed and have had some success along with some failures. I started inside and then also did outside this year. I've learned some things, watched a lot of youtube videos and gotten some great advice on this forum so I'm feeling a little better about what I'm doing and I'll go ahead and start my diary with new plants I recently started inside.

Note that It's clearly just a hobby and my plants aren't really going to get much more attention than a typical house plant but having stated that I have upped my game some since starting out. I'm now using the Vivosun self-watering bases with 5 gal bags and more recently I got some far better lights; the 100 watt version of these from amazon. I specifically wanted these because they're on stands and I won't be using a tent or a lot of the fancy stuff I see associated with those. My plants sit in the dining area by the back patio door. We have two spare bedrooms but I'm not allowed to use those because they're "reserved for guests". πŸ™ƒ
Additionally these indoor plants will only get RO water and I'll start them on the GH Flora series stuff coming up.

I went a bit nuts when I started out and bought more seeds than I needed but here I was down to four left from a HGC order on 2/19/25. Two of these Northern Lights #10 Feminized went from towel to pot on 10/16. The one really wasn't taking off as of 10/24 so I put another in a paper towel.

Were already getting tomatoes out of the garden... It's a crazy year, weather wise. If we could get some rain life would pick up for these plants, lol! Right????
Keep on a keepin' on! Good to hear also about your music life!πŸŽ‰

Our time and effort in the garden has really paid off. We got some great radishes early on along with spinach and sugar snap peas. Later came the cucumbers and there were many, one that was hiding was bigger than either of us had ever seen! Now peppers, broccoli, squash, tomatoes and soon carrots. We discovered that aphids really love those broccoli leaves so I was just out spraying the shit out of them with Neem Oil. I believe our compost was very helpful and next year we'll have a whole lot more, some for my weed bags also.

The real heat is coming soon though. Today I put some misters up in the PVC frame and we tie-wrapped some covering over mainly for the tomatoes. Irrigation is essential, we sure don't get much rain here! I have some upgrade/stabilization plans for the PVC frame but that can wait until fall.

I think my weed plants may be doing a little better, I believe the irrigation was a bit too much for plants this young.
The thing about being a musician, the nature of the business is feast or famine so it's hard to pass up opportunities when they come along!
