The thing about soil is you are always behind the problem when one occurs. You can’t get fast results because of the nature of the medium. So when you chase an issue it’s been there for a week or longer and it takes that long to recover from it. Growing in hydroponics has a definite advantage in that regard because nutrient correction is immediately uptaken by the plant.

see this is why I prefer my little happy spot in soil. I've wanted to do hydro for years but after personally watching friends destroy healthy plants almost overnight by either human or technical error is terrifying.

i give my plants a lot of daily care so i feel like that soil buffer you speak of gives me a GIANT window to prevent anything and get a perfect feel for my plants health. i grew up gardening with my mom who never muttered the words hydroponics so it was all really new to me after I had a skillset.

she did grow poppies though so makes me wonder what else she didnt tell me

Equipment failures will kill a hydro quick too. I prefer soil as well. It’s so much simpler and less work IMO.
