Well, I would need more Close-Ups to say for sure.....They do look White & kinda Snowy. Since your decision was "made for you", just trim 'em, dry 'em and cure 'em...and hope for the best. I do see some WHITE pistil growth, which to me means they were not quite ready. But - Good Luck! If you have a 2nd plant (or more) still growing, let it go a few weeks longer. So, I am one who finds that it is hard to determine when trichomes are ready for harvest...may sound funny/odd to some of you, but I just seem to not be able to tell when they are milky and thus at their peak for THC, which is when I wanted to harvest...
OK, I got this brilliant idea that I was going to borrow my friends DSLR with kick-a@! macro lens and I was going to take some pics and settle this once and for all!!! I wanted close-ups that were clear.
But, my problem was that my plants are being supported by plant yoyos on many of the limbs/kolas, but I thought I could find a way to support the plant, take it out of the tent, get it in some natural light, and with the use of a $500 tripod that I rented from my local camera store for $25 for 3 days (pretty good deal) and my friend DLSR, I would be able to get some great pictures once I got them in the sunlight coming through the window in the other room....
Then it happened...As I was pulling the plant out, the kolas just started to collapse/bend at 90 degree angles and start falling to the floor.
SO, the decision on when to harvest was made for me, by my stupidity....I started processing her right away.
Anyway, can you guys/gals please look at the the post-disaster/untimely death carnage and tell me what you think of the trichome development on the kolas??? Is the flower really premature...kind-of premature...not that bad...or, actually pretty good. Please be brutally honest! If I just ruined an entire plant then let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to look.
The strain is GDP from ILG! if you were wondering.
As we write this, I have two Afghan Kushes (Fem) nearly ready....one a little more than the other. One of them I dare not pick up again, as you can see some of the Buds have outgrown the plant's ability to hold them aloft. I COULD Stake them, but why bother, at this point? I just pray my trichomes show some Amber, quick and soon. They are falling apart, but....just not...quite...ready yet.I have 2 loops...1 is a combo and the other I think is a single 40...can't see a damn thing with them enough to know when it is the right time...it is almost like a color-blindness...weird.
Anyway, thanks for looking. I do have another going which is the same age, but didn't develop nearly as big as kolas as this one plant did :( Pistils on that one went brown much earlier than the one I destroyed. Going to give that one at least another week or two. I am in between the 8th an 9th week of flower. 9 weeks is supposed to be the amount of time for this strain, but I know that is always a variable.
Ever since I started using silica, the branches are way stronger. Haven't needed extra support so far.Dude...Get some plant YoYos. They are great great for your situation. Just look up plant yoyo on Amazon. I buy the ones in the green box (8 pack).
I stop at week 7 flower, and start reducing feed. Never saw a need for it in late flower.Silica should be used from the very start. From the first veg feed through the end of flower.
I am going to, also. Already bought a bottle. Hope this is a good brand. Whoops! Big picture lolEver since I started using silica, the branches are way stronger. Haven't needed extra support so far.
