This is my new DIY grow room🤣. Just found it a bit comical and wanted to show it off.

I’m also open to anyone’s advice if anything looks a little concerning. This is my first grow so literally any advice on plants or grow boxes is appreciated. I’m a total newbie

What plan do you have for the next stage of the grow starting very soon.
I agree that is like a clone box, will work good for seedlings and cloning, but thinking long term you will want some height.
My first box made entirely from Home Depot reflective bubble wrap, 1/2" PVC, and dryer vent tape. 4' high x 2' deep, 3' long. Exactly half the size of my closet at the time. And I still use it for veg/cloning. I think the price came out to like $85 and some change not including lights.

My thinking is is I want a tall enough to make it even worth it, I had 6 plants, started flower when they were 6". Got 3oz out of it. Enough till the next crop in the big new tent.
Good luck, there are some very knowledgeable peeps here. take advantage of their knowledge.

I want to add more height to the box I’m aware that it’ll eventually be too short. I’m planning on transplanting seedlings into a larger pot pretty soon. Also will be getting a bigger/brighter light too.

Those ended being 2' tall, that was start flowing till cut, an I started at 6". Just want you to be successful..
I stopped the soil, I'm a hydro guy, I should have stayed in my own lane, that crop would have been 8oz. Do I'm back to hydro in that one picture of the pro tent.

Alot of soil knowledge here. I'm sure if you stick with it, you can make some early progress. Just ask.

@Shitweed420 - That space you have there might not require a box or a tent at all. It looks like it would work well just the way it is. Hang a good light from the ceiling using those adjustable cord things that usually come with the lights and get the pots up off the floor so the roots don't get cold. There are reflective wall boards available, but even white paint on OSB would work well. Add a recirculation fan or two. That's just about all you'd need. Of course, I'm not sure there's an upper limit to how far we can take growing at home, but you have the basics of a nice grow space there. You probably could grow half a dozen large plants there.

I agree with LoveGrowingIt that you might not need a box/tent at all.

Well, it depends on whether you are growing photos or autos?! if you are growing photos, then you need to be able to make the room completely dark for that 12/12 period. If growing autos, then it don't matter.

Now as far as DIY projects go, it is my experience that it usually isn't any cheaper to make a box yourself. Tents these days are pretty cheap, so unless you have some materials lying around or if you just wanna make a box for fun I would go for a tent instead. But again, that is only if you really need it?!

Ok thanks man. I currently have 4 plants. How bright of a light would you suggest. I was thinking of getting one that’s 3x3 or 2x4. Not really sure what wattage to go for though.

They’re photos and considering I probably don’t need a tent my main concern is lighting. Would a light under 300 watts flower these?

Since they are photos they will only begin to flower after you change the day/night cycle to 12/12, meaning 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. And when I say darkness I mean complete darkness!!! Light leaks can make a flowering plant go back into vegetative growth or worse, it can stress the plant and turn it into a hermaphodite!

So the strength of the light really has nothing to do with the plant going into flowering or not.

300 watts sounds like a solid starting point, that should be able to give you some fat nugs! 🙂
