I have a air pump and some clay pebbles from an old fish tank. Do yall think I could make a bubbler so I could be more successful in my cloning? Thanks <3

I made mine out of an air pump and a 2 gallon plastic bucket ( with lid) , some dollar store solo cup “ shot” cups and some sponge . Works pretty good . My buddy made the orange one , mines the blue one.

Do you have your stems submerged in water or just above ? Mine are just above the water

Yours looks great!

I've seen a lot of different ideas online. using misters seem like too much trouble. how do you get enough water on the roots if they're above water? Do the bubbles allow enough? Idk I'm fried so i might not be that clear in what im tryna say but...

I'm trying to reuse old stuff, but I'm a little worried my little pump will be able to allow enough oxygen. That said, should i keep the roots above the water? or submerged? If the bubbler isnt strong enough shoud i submerge vs leave above water?

Thanks for the interest, rather than try to recall all the details from 5 years ago and maybe getting something wrong I've found the link

Bubble Cloning: Techniques , Tips & Tricks

First time bubble cloning, I made this bubble cloner several years ago but have never used it I run into a cloning issue with a white fuzz in the spring and the fall quite frequently, and I have recently, so this bubble cloner is what I'm going to use until late fall I suspect I could...

submerge just the tips if your pump and airstone can't dampen the stem. Usually the air bubbles break the surface and splash water onto the stem so you wouldn't want to submerge it. if you submerge the stem, root will grow close to the water line when it roots.

This is the prototype - all males. I know it's trash. Please don't yell at me lol.

Maybe it'll work, I doubt it, but I felt like getting a basic concept and also a photo of the pump and the materials I have if anyone has suggestions to build off what I have.

there's pros and cons on a air pump system vs a submersible pump. Air pumps are more fail safe because submersible pumps don't prime themselves 100% of the time. At the same time when you have it working correctly the submersible style pump you just activate for a minute, 4 times a day, where the air pump has to stay on 24/7. I have had the submersible pump style fail on me a few times, so I would keep a spare pump in hand in case. The reason why I fired it on 4 times a day was because it allowed the pump to not work once and still be fine. Truly only needed it to be on 2 times a day for a minute though. You don't want to run the sub pump style on all the time or your reservoir water will be too hot and the clones will get rot.
