Been researching on how to make your own nutes from scratch and what i dont understand why is there a part A and B solution when making your own?

Here is an example of a bloom solution;

Part A (10L)
Calcium Nitrate 164.4
Potassium Nitrate 725.1
Iron Chelate 19.48

Part B (10L)
MgSO4 608.6
ZnSO4 0.22
MnSO4 1.54
CuSO4 0.08
Boric Acid 2.86
Ammonium Orthomolybdate 0.02

Prevent fall out and lock out @Capulator or @squiggly could probably rock the hell out of the question

To prevent precipitation, in other words to prevent certain soluble elements from combining into solids that the plant cannot take up (something about Calcium and sulfate becoming gypsum/plaster). When you dissolve A in water first, and then add B you won't have that problem.

You can't mix some salts with different charges in concentration without them precipitating out of the solution; therefore you mix solutions that are stable in concentrated form.

Keep the Calcium Nitrate and Magnesium sulfate separate until at full dilution or you end up with Calcium sulfate(gypsum). I run two concentrate tanks with dosatron injectors. One has Calcium Nitrate only and the other has everything else. Never have problems with my final feed solution this way.

KNO3 does not contain P. P being phosphor. Potassium = Kalium = K.

Potassium Nitrate does not have any phosphorous in it. It is Nitrogen and Potassium!

Wait wait wait did you just answer my old unanswered 7th grade science question:why is potassium K?

I actually never heard of potassium till I joined English grow forums. It has always been Kalium to me. Figured that could potentially lead to some confusion :)

Just goes to show California public education systems failures. I remember asking the same question in 7th grade no answer from the teacher yet I can get the answer from stoners on a weed forum.

I doubt the kids here even know the difference between Kalium and Calcium. I gave up on school and have been an autodidact since I started smoking cannabis. :)

It's normally in the B part.

I think you need "monopotassium phosphate" (K+P) instead of "potassium nitrate" (K+N). Another option would be mono ammonium phosphate (N+P).

Monopotassium phosphate is 0-52-34, also relabeled, repriced, and resold as MOAB...

If that is the case sativied, how does the companies who sell nutes get around the two parts?

Can you post the nutrients you are referring to? I have yet to see a "1 part synthetic" nutrient that is actually complete and needs nothing else.

Like Coir basically said, they don't get around it either. At least not that I know. Hence the A and B and in some cases Grow and Bloom parts. Check the label on GH Floraduo for example, or an analysis of H&G or Canna AB.

Based upon the most recent analysis of Floramicro and Flora Bloom this is the corrected formula for the Lucas Method:

ppm concentrations at a 1:100 dilution

Nitrogen 167
Phosphorus 333
Potassium 397
Magnesium 100
Calcium 215
Sulfur 133
Iron 3.33
Manganese 1.67
Boron 1.67
Zinc 1.00
Copper .33
Molybdenum .03

Ounces
PART A
Calcium Nitrate 14.2
Iron Chelate .45

Ounces
Part B
MonoPotassium Phosphate 21.0
Magnesium Sulfate 13.5
Manganese Sulfate .090
Boric Acid / Solubor.123
Zinc Sulfate .058
Copper Sulfate .020
Ammonium Molybdate .001

Volume of Stock Solutions 1/2 gallon each part

Dilution Rate
100

This is a high concentrate formulation based upon analysis concentrations. The EC of the Part A is 1.08, Part B EC = 1.64, combined the EC is 2.72. Obviously a higher EC then most would consider using.

The PH used with RO water should be 5.4 at 1:100
