So this is my dream hydro system...easy and reliable! Yeah I had a ton of time this weekend! This is my summer project.......The room will be 14' x 14' with 9' x 9' of grow space lit with a 1000 watt switchable.

The 3 GAL. bucket will have the lid with the 10 inch net pot. The 5 GAL. bucket will hold the 3 GAL. I plan painting primer and then painting with a copper hydroxide paint in the 3 GAL bucket to prevent roots from clogging the buckets to bad. The 3 in the 5 will allow me to rotate the buckets and move them about the room (into other 5 GAL.)

Please give me any ideas or pointers!

One question I have is:

1. Will the reservoir get to hot with a 1000 watter in the room?

Great diagrams djs :nod

1000 watters heat things up quite a bit more than even a 600. If you're gonna go through the trouble to setup a serious system like that, why not locate the res outside the flower chamber?

hererisssh: True... I'm wondering now if 1 1000 watter will be enough though... There is a closet in the room I might make as the "res" room, to keep temps cool...kinda my summer project... just tryin to get the kinks out now, ya know? Thanks for your reply

pinhi: It is supposed to prevent the roots from growing to the sides of containers... I'm hoping that this could be used in a hydro setup to prevent the roots from growing down into the 5 gallon bucket... and clogging water lines. I know some roots will make it through... I guess this is kinda an experiment... I still need to make sure that the paint won't leach into the hydro system.

thats a big room, with only a little light, I think your res would be fine, might even be cold depending on your ventalation.

dj you need at least 2- 1 k lights for that space. You could get away with 1 if you left a 2 ft. isle around the outside of your plants.

MORE LIGHT DJ!

A 1000 over 9x9 is waay too little IMO!

I'd use at least 2, if not 3 over a space that large.
3k over 81sqft is still only about 4800L/sqft.
1k over 81sqft is a paltry(imo) 1600L/sqft.

Ya, you don't want more system than bud!

The room that i'm satisfied with now is running at about 10,600L/sqft.

It's all about balancing risk and pay off.

What you're doing is illegal.
If you're going to get busted, the cops are going to weight the leaf, stalk AND roots to figure your final offense.(though # of plants can also be a factor)

A few more ounces of actual bud per crop simply further adjusts the rick to profit ratio in your favor.... along with adding a few more bills in your wallet or buds in your jars! ;)

Unless the added light defers the ratio towards the risk side or creates heat problems, i'd say go for it!

ya the max you prolly want to use a single 1000 in is 4 x 4 - 600 watter is more like 3 x 3

yea....true guys! But I already have a 1000 watter... I am mainly growing these plants about 2-3 feet tall for the initial run... flower @ about 4 inches... I plan on getting another 1000 watter thereafter. This way I will only need to buy a few things. Kinda going to be a trial run for me. I still have my 4x4 cab for perp. production.

Any other hints, tips, or criticism is appreciated!

Maybe I will try a 9 bucket setup until I get another light. At least I can still add buckets and keep that square footprint.

Well... I dunno...there have been some grows that have completely changed my way of thinking... I might try the 16 bucket/ 1000 watt... and see what happens ;)
