I havnt really heard much on these. I've been curious since last summer. One thing I do know is those light spectrums are amazing.

I have just finished testing out one of the new Sunsystems LEC 315 lights which I am pretty sure uses the exact same philips bulb http://www.ecat.lighting.philips.co.../mastercolour-cdm-t-elite-mw/928601167330_eu/ as the DNA light. It definitely works! I am always skeptical of new tech especially at the prices they want now days but this 315W light is amazing. I ran 4 plants in a 5x5 tent for 4 weeks in veg then 4 weeks in flower before having to add one more light(a 270W plasma) due to not being able to raise the sunsystem light any higher for the last 4 weeks and I was having some shading problems on the outside edges. Still under 600W total at the finish and the results were impressive(over 1.2gms/W). I am convinced that there is as much or more usable light from one of these as a 600w HPS if not a 1000W. It's also a single bulb solution for veg and bloom which is really nice. By far the healthiest plants I have seen in a long time. No heat issues at all and in fact, I had to heat the room the tent was in most of the time. Really nice light to work under as well. Closest I have seen to natural daylight. My only complaint would be the height of the fixture and the limited height of the tent it was in did not allow me enough vertical room. I have made a couple modifications to get the fixture up about 6 inches and will flip the plants earlier this time to avoid what happened last time. I hope they don't want their light back any time soon! The drawback I see to these is the initial cost but the energy savings will more than make up for that over time.

Coir, are you saying you pulled around 1.25 lb's out of that tent? with less than 600 watts?

What ballast and reflector did you use with the bulb?

21oz! I was really shocked. It was this fixture from Sunlight Supply: . The local grow store let me test it for them and their rep from Sunlight. I will be posting the entire journal shortly. I was also testing my own food against H&G during the run and need to finalize all the numbers before I post anything. Her is one photo taken 3 weeks into flowering before I added the plasma light. You can see the bottom of the fixture of the 315W light in the middle of the tent. You can also see why I needed to add the other light!

nice bro! i will be using this between de fixtures in the near future im thinking... good to see a standalone, thats a great yield for the amount of power used. Looks like a tight spread, how is the penetration? thats a ceramic metal halide right?

Should work great with the DE's. Especially for filling in any areas that get shaded from taller plants. The light spread is good easily covering the 5x5 tent when the plants are small and all the way through veg with no problems. Crazy fast growth under this thing. I could have easily flipped them to 12/12 after just three weeks. The spectrum from the CMH is a nice compromise between halide and HPS but more importantly, the usable light that these put off is closer to 90% vs 30% so they are much more efficient. I know that 2 of these would far out produce a 600W HPS in the same space.

What is the cost on these ?

The Sunsystems LEC is around $500. I think the DNA lighting is even more but I would have to go back and check on that. Hopefully the price will come down because they are a bit steep right now. The nice thing is that over time, you make up the price difference with power saving, bulb life, and plant growth rates.
