Hello all, I was just looking online at nutrients and I noticed for hydroponic growing there are "pH perfect" nutrients that apparently adjust the pH for you where it needs to be. Are there such nutrients for soil growing? One of my least favorite parts of growing so far is adjusting pH and calibrating my pH pen. Is the only way in soil to use a living soil?

Looking good. I'm currently on my second grow, in happy frog soil with fox farms nutrients. Week 5 of veg. Here are some pics. My small plant I stunted from over watering but it is catching back up. Tallest one is 2 feet tall and flipping to flower this weekend.

You can use ph adjusting lines in soil if that’s what you want to do.

Just be sure to think about what’s already in your soil if using a pre amended mix like happy frog.

Advanced nutrients sensi line is one I’ve used in HF without ever checking or adjusting ph on several grows.

Front Row Ag is what we use at my work and something I’m considering trying, it’s a self adjusting salt line and registers around 6.4-6.5 after mixing.

I don't ph either, I'm in Promix or Sunshine mix or what ever is available and cheap. I grew for about 20 years not knowing about ph ing my soil and I thought wow that's what I was missing. So I started doing it religiously, after 2 months my vegging plant was looking sad with wilted leaves and stunted growth right when I wanted to flip. Someone suggested a run off test and it read 4.8ph. WTF I was doing what I was supposed to. PH down accumulates in the soil and drove my soil down to unhealthy levels, I was able to fix it all up with lime and another month of care but I no longer ph my input liquids but I check my run off occasionally just to make sure I'm not out of whack one way or the other

Soil buffers. But that can gradually deplete over time. Having large pots usually ensures it keeps the correct range until cut. If unsure do a soil pH check, slurry probe or runoff measurement. And then pH the irrigation solution to correct to the suitable range pH 6.2 - 6.5.

Some of these "pH perfect' products use compounds as "semi-eternal pH corrector" like this

MES (buffer) - Wikipedia

en.wikipedia.org
(or the other article links) and it may be possible to use these as a medium ingredient, but I'm no chemist or have a clue, how economic this may be for a homegrower.

I've been looking at something like nature's living soil. Would this work putting NLS on the bottom 1/3 and then using Happy Frog for the top 2/3 for the whole grow cycle with no nutrients? I understand I'd have to pH though

I don’t PH and I grow in soil. I strictly grow organically.

I use Fox Farm ocean forest soil from seed to harvest. I use Roots Organic Terp Teas - grow, microbe, elemental, bloom, and booster (top dress is the method I prefer. There are several other feeding method's you could do as well and it is well explained on the bag or their chart). I kind of feed by feel for what the plants need but they have a schedule that you can follow along with that many swear by. I also use Down to Earth (Neem Seed Meal) during the grow as a supplement but the reason I truly use it because it keeps the bugs away. Works amazing for me, too dress mid veg and then first week of flower and the bugs just go away or most of the time they never come. Also some Fish shit and recharge usually a couple times during the grow cycle somewhere along the line. I do always let my water sit out for 24-36 hours prior to feeding my plants.

Not saying by no means this is the best way to grow. So many other amazing products and different ways to grow. This just works well for me and I am comfortable with these nutrients and love the final product.

Use good soil. You won’t have to do any of that. I suggest build a soil. Or at least follow a similar recipe. Good soil is really expensive. If you spend the money you can use the same soil for years.
