Took photos of the top buds. I will cut it down tonight and put it to dry

Make sure you don't dry too quickly (mistake I made). Its winter and RH can be low depending on where you live. You want these to dry slowly at around 55 RH (give or take).... If the RH is low (lets say 35-40) they will dry too quickly and lose a lot of goodness...

It took me almost two weeks two dry massive Northern Lights colas at 55-60 RH. You want the buds to snap off the main stem before jarring....

I used a box to help with low RH, this helped slow the drying process.... (RH was around 40).... After 2 months in a jar, these buds came out AMAZING !

Anyone else want to give a second opinion here? I have 5 grows under my belt and am sure there are experts that might be able to double check my advice..

Ambering and even clouding doesn't happen uniformly across the plant. There's a difference between the sugar leaves and the buds but there's also a difference at individual bud sites. More than anything, this is what makes it a personal judgment call when it's time to harvest. I certainly wouldn't make the call to chop or not chop looking at just one cola.

55 ish is perfect... Just remember, the first few days of drying are very important !

As a new grower, there is a lot to learn. Ninjadogma is giving good advice here, as you can see harvest isn't simple and there are many directions to take... The top of your buds are normally ready earlier than the lower buds (this can get complicated)... Some will harvest the tops first and let the lower buds finish.. Others find middle ground letting the upper buds over ripen a bit so the lower buds are ready as well... As I say, there are many ways to go.

Bottom line here is that you are in the harvest window now and the choice is yours...You'll learn as you go along and the bud will get you high ! You cant really make a wrong turn and a lot of this is grower preference at this point.

Yep, I'm trying hard not to give you a headache here and am also trying to help you avoid mistakes I've made.

Its a chore, but scoping (with a loupe or Microscope) is tricky and frankly a real PITA.... You have to check all the buds, lower and tops... Its almost impossible for anyone here to know from the pictures you've given (they don't show enough)... (Not knocking your pictures, they are much better than most !) Its hard enough to know when you scope your own plants --giving advice to others from a few pictures is probably not a great idea...

Anyway, my Durban Poison was pretty sucky just because I harvested a bit early... I'm really trying to make sure your's come out better than mine did !

We are talking personal preference here, and I would personally wait. The last photos in the series I saw posted is too blurry for me to tell if I'm even looking at Milky or clear... Theres what looks like amber but you can have Ambers when you still have too many clears. Yall use a certain amount of amber as the gold standard and I don't. I'm looking for as much of the plant as possible to develop trichomes that no longer look like clear dew drops anymore, while keeping an eye on how many went amber, and some point I throw in the towel because there's more Milky ones turning amber than there are clear one turning Milky.

I think you showed me the drying box setup before, me likey. Gonna try a similar setup on my harvest coming up in March but with a big appliance box and my dehumidifier.

I went to the end of week 9 (BAD !!!) as I followed the seedbank recommendation of 7-9 weeks... (this is complete BS)...Too many of my trichomes were still clear..

I posted a DP grow journal on your thread, it went a full 11 weeks before harvest, my bet is you want to be in that neighborhood... I sure wish I had waited two more weeks!

From the last few pics you provided, I think you have some time to go ...

I did another harvest in winter and used paper lunch bags for each cola... This works well too ! It will slow down the drying in low RH conditions...

Box or bag works great... Probably best to dry at the right RH (without bag or box), but some of us aren't that lucky.

I made the mistake of using Boveda packs to dry, that's a no go ! They suck all the goodness away quickly and you cant get it back.. The Boveda packs are great to maintain RH in the jar though once they stabilize... I'll never use them to dry again though...

OP hang in there ! It must be brutal to grow such a long flowering strain for your first grow !

11 weeks in flower is a long time ! Maybe try a quick flowering strain for your next grow?

I went back to look at your pics, absolutely amazing for a first grow ! Your plants look perfect, better than mine...

I did a harvest at 10 weeks that was fine. A friend of mine who is a session musician was telling me he was looking for some herb that would work well for him when he needs to be creative in the studio. So I pulled one of my Durbans early for him. He LOVED it. I didn't particularly enjoy it... When I toke an early sativa... well, some folks describe it as paranoia but I have a tendency to over analyze everything I've said and done and become real self conscious. Kind of raises my inhibitions, as opposed to lowering them.

@dannyvero2017 - You still hanging in there or did you chop? Here's a close up of my current outside Durban at 7.1 with a good 5-6 weeks left.
