I have 2 autoflower plants that are about 6 weeks old. Both looked healthy and happy 2 weeks ago. I am using DWC and Fox Farm nutes. My plants looked fantastic and are growing vigorously, just starting to show signs of beginning to flower. Last week one of them just got all wilty, yellow, and then died. The other plant was fine. Then I noticed the second plant just begin to get droopy. So I hit it with a "Sledgehammer" flush and a complete water changeout on Friday. Here it is Monday and they second p[lant is all wilty and yellow just like the first one. This is the second time this year I have had issues and have had to start over. Can anyone help me figure what is killing these plants before I start a final batch for this year? - My grow is out on a semi-protected deck with another deck 4 feet above. I run the lights 20hrs on/4hrs off and the growth of the plants up to the point that they begin to fail is right on schedule. One day they look great - the next they are gone....... Help!!

Its really too late - the plants are already gone. They just go from healthy plants 2ft tall by 2 ft dia to shut down and wilty to dead. No bugs.

Have you ever had a successful grow? If so how did that environment differ from the one where these others failed? Something had to have changed. If you never succeeded, I'd suggest you try with soil first. Just plain Foxfarm with no nutes (with autoflowers), see how that goes.

Are the Foxfarm nutes synthetic? Organic nutes are generally a no-no in hydro. There's no soil biome to break down the organic components, and you tend to get slime and rot.

Pics of your grow site, dwc setup, lights, plants that were thriving? I am 44 days into my rdwc grow which is my first grow since the late 80's. I also used Fox Farms till they ran out. Now using GH grow micro stuff. I am showing pictures of my grow from last week before i chopped them all up and cleaned out all the bottom 1/3rd. I hope you don't think i am bragging or showing off as that is not what I'm about, just trying to show you what they should be looking like. Now mine are photo period and not auto flowering, but it sounds to me like heat got you? You didn't mention anything about the environment setting.

Kind of replying to myself here. I think what is happening is root rot. A friend had a look and said that is what it looks like - sure enough - I looked up root rot on-line and my plants look exactly like the ones pictured. I have heard of using H2O2 but it must be added daily? Quantity per gallon?
I just ordered some Hydroguard - supposed to be the best treatment for root rot.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I really think that root rot is the problem now that he mentioned it!!

Don't use nutes that include organic ingredients in hydro.

Cannazyme or something to help combat rootrot from starting. What's your water change schedule and bucket temp? Prevention is what you need.

Bucket temps running 70-72F

Getting ready to break down and sanitize everything with bleach and H2O2 before starting my final try seeds for this grow season. The Hydroguard should do the same as cannazyme.

Maybe. It was just the first enzyme that sprung to mind honestly. But give one a shot.

But what's your water change schedule and nutrient change schedule?

How often you refresh your buckets? When you do how do you do it? These are important aspects of a DWC. Very important aspects. Including what @ArtfulCodger was saying if you've used organics it's double duty to keep the water good. How do you mix your nutes?

Dude - I have a slight issue here.

I am handicapped - spinal cord injury has taken away most of what my legs usedtodid do. I have to wear hard plastic braces from the bottom of my feet to the backs of my knees and I have to use forearm crutches to walk at all. I can't even step over the threshold of my grow tent. I have to do EVERYTHING - and I mean EVERYTHING sitting in a chair in front of the rolled-open door. I can't even lean over very far inside. It is truly a PITA for me to do much of anything.

I have a battery-powered pump but I still have to deal with buckets and leaning way into the grow from a seated position. One of these days I will lose my balance and fall in for sure...... So water changes are done only when absotively posolutely necessary - and everything gets broken down and washed and dried between crops

Also switching from Fox Farm to General Hydroponics flora series inorganic nutes plus adding Hydroguard - just got a quart last night

I only have 2 live plants on the grow now - a pair of runtz punch x lemon drop from seeds a friend gave me. Just ready to go from 20/4 to 12/12 on the lights to get it to go flower. Should be good to harvest in 3-5 weeks. Then I want to get a full 8 buckets of autoflowers going to close out the season

That's a serious situation man. An enzyme is going to be a good tool.

I do think that the inability to get a plant to harvest through multiple attempts might spell out a serious need situation for more frequent water changes though.

My problem was root rot. Switched over to General Hydroponics non-organic nutes. Using Hydroguard or Southern AG Garden-friendly fungicide plus upgrading my air system significantly has me with 7 young Autoflowers that have taken over one side of the grow - it is a jungle in there! Started horizontal training with my net set 4 ft high. I have a big plant on the other side full of giant colas up in the net that are starting to fill in nicely. Then Friday morning the LED light on that side quit - I think it got water inside as my grow is out on my deck and the nights are getting cool - 50's - and I am seeing some condensation on the inside of the mylar. I have a dehumidifier on order. My buddy is bringing a borrow light tomorrow - I have a new one on order but it won't come until Friday and that is too long giving the big girl a rest!! Should have everything harvested by the week after turkey day - then the dehumidifier will move to the walk-in closet with the cut plants! A week after that the fun begins - trim and bottle. And burp and burp and burp. Buy a bunch of pint jars to give as gifts......
