I have read many posts on the subject of the EB Series Gen 2 strips, all around the internet you could easily get lost or lose interest… There are so many conflicting posts …… Here is a ex.. you will need 8,9,10,14,16,18 strips which one is right
Im looking for some direct answers for a build,
These are the boards I will be using BXEB-L1120Z-35E4000-C-B3
Thanks in advance to all who read this and reply……….
How many EB Series Gen 2 strips will I need to cover a 4x4 area (a room)
What size driver(s) will I need
Where to purchase Strips and Drivers (without a tariff fee would be great)
@35w sq ft and if you want to drive them @1000mA you will need 14 strips, you can power them in parallel with one HLG-600H-42 A or B type.
@700mA you will need 20 strips, same driver

The question is if they worth the price.
I couldn't find the price for gen 2 3000K(in stock was 7.5USD)so I will use the 5000K price in Digikey, 8.40USD each. For gen 3 the price is 14.175USD.
20 Eb gen 2 will cost you $168USD, @700mA 27.3W(546W), 4780lm(95600lm)
20 Eb gen 3 will cost you $283.5USD, @700mA 26.8W(536W)
4980lm(99600lm)
Driver efficiency 96%
Schedule 12hrs per day for a year 4380hrs
Lm efficiency
(99600x100)/95600=104.18
+4.18% for Eb gen 3
Power Consumption
Gen 2
546W/0.96=568.75Wh
Gen 3
536W/0.96=558.33Wh
568.75-558.33=10.42Wh
10.42Wh x 4380h=45640W
45.64kWh x 0.15USD=6.85USD
As you can see you will pay just 6.85USD in your electric bill per year or less depending on where you live. Just an opinion but for me Gen 3 doesn't worth the price just for 4.18% extra light output.
I appreciate everyone who took the time to give good advice…but I have change my mind about LEDs for now. The price didn’t sit well with me so, I order some 315 CMHs until prices come down….
