the f1 mother from the seed pack was heady and energetic, but came with anxiety and racy greening out.

the f2 is a strong, mellow all-day smoke. this is where i want to go.

consistency has been very poor, but the f3 is beginning to stabilize. im running this test to see if the high matches how im selecting. besides, im not in a good spot at the moment to select a male and cross.

this is the f2.

i put a bit of water in the reservoirs to fully break the gnat cycle. i will need to sweep the dead ones off the floor. the roots wont take long to get down there anyway.

stretch is full on. i imagine that continues for another couple weeks.

structure and other expressions are in parity with mama, though the leaf blades are thinner. still good uniformity overall, though id like to see it tighter.

the high will be the ultimate test.

lately ive been thinking to crack the last of the f1s to increase seed stock and maybe start a second line. the f1s are getting to be a few years old anyway.

significant differences in bud structure are developing. got another week or two to finish stretch. the puffy, white pistil balls is how the seed mother grew its clusters.

i am interested in the two plants expressing landrace bud structure, even though they're divergent from my goals.

It really is amazing the difference in bud structures possible from same strains! I’ve got four right now same strain, four different bud characteristics completely! The only thing similar are hints of smells, and thats minimal per plant, like each plant has its own smell and then the notes of the others will be there you know? : )

Yours are looking very nice!

thank you!

i know what you mean about the differences. last pack i ran, one plant was ripe a full month before the other three.

i mostly grow from seed and i rarely combine the bud from different plants, even if the seeds are from the same pack. sounds like you might be the same way.

im guessing the broad variations are due to our hyper hybridized genetic culture right now. but i kinda like that for this project so i can keep the combos i like and ferret out the genes that do me no good. like the breeder gave me a leg up.

I have a guy locally that sells seeds (kind of) lol. I’ve gotten some from him, hes given me some also for helping out with stuff around the house. Now one seed I got from him is from an SFV he grew out or 8 years over the summers. Per him he said it would be like growing out clones from seed (minus the dudes obviously) lol. Im really excited to try those! My first indoor run i did had 7 same strains and got 7 different weeds!hahaha Even had a purple in the bunch! : )

This im not too sure about. I couldnt say one way or another. But what you said makes sense : ) if a non hybrid strain only has x amount of traits to send over and you add a whole different lineage into it youre naturally going to get more traits it’s going to pass on thats so bro science in a half so dont go quoting me on that lol.
give it time, someone might chime in on that : )

Hey whats good @goner they look amazing bro. Kind of cool with the slight variation. Back left is very landrace sativa looking with its long wispy cola. Wheres the front left already has a solid, big bud structure.....and a fast flowering plant too!!!

im aiming for the same stability as your local guy. hes a few years ahead of me though. ha.

i heard the f3 can throw some weird stuff. i can attest, as this is the first time ive seen that landrace bud structure from this line.

Hahahhaaha Do you really think that long? If I were to guess, they are off to a great start for a more landrace strain.

i really dont know, so im preparing myself. i get antsy to try the new stuff, ya know? haha. and ive not grown any landrace genetics yet. getting near the edge of my map looking at those two plants. but i got some ace malawi i need to fire up, so maybe this will help chart the path.

i took these june 8, 12 weeks since first flower clusters. water only, didnt even pull a dead leaf. lol

that middle pic is what i want. it smokes heavy behind the eyes with full energy. tastes earthy and sharp flower sweet. smells like sugar candy.

the other three smoke okay, and that tall one in back is a lot like the f1 but weaker.

if i can plant a couple dozen seeds, select down to four and get what i want - im thinking its worth putting down 100+, keep going.

first i want to go back to the f1 and start a second line with the last five seeds. dont know what the f im doing, but i guess i think this is a good idea. i can refresh seed stock, and preserve, maybe even capture, more genes?

the bud is still curing. got about ten mason jars going - surprising for four little plants.

the fat one is taking its sweet time. i call that batch "stub" since it was so short. didnt know there was a huge nug under all the leaves.

dont know about you guys, but i love big buds. i keep them in one piece as much as i can.
