With the addition of 2 new tents this year, I'm finally growing enough that my fiance can't keep up and I no longer need to buy elsewhere in between harvests.
I've mentioned tincture a few times. It's easy to make and doesn't require much equipment, some of which you might already have in your kitchen. All that's needed are a few 8-ounce canning jars, a measuring cup, a saucepan, cheesecloth, coffee filters and a freezer. Nice to have but not necessary are an herb grinder, dropper bottles and a beaker. What I'm looking for is a list of equipment, tools, and supplies I'll need to achieve some of these.
I'm sure my fiance wouldn't mind me taking out the oven and half the counter to put that in
I think cannafarmer420 has a nice press… I think! Without searching for it. Or Itscheese but I thinks its canna : )So the 2 main things I need brand recommendations for is a press and decarb machine.
I see so many presses for hobby growers that I'm not sure what is junk and what is good.
As far as decarb machines, I see STX and Ardent advertised a lot.
Are both these brands good or should I be looking at something else?
I think those 2 pieces of equipment will be my most expensive purchases, I'm ready to purchase now but don't want to make the wrong decision.
GNick55 has some great videos of the hash making process also! Check him out!I think cannafarmer420 has a nice press… I think! Without searching for it. Or Itscheese but I thinks its canna : )
I was wanting to build my own a while back but just couldnt make it work as I was going to still need to drop some coin for certain pieces to the puzzle.
I have blown oil with butane before! That shit was fire! We vacuumed purged and everything, made super awesome wax. I have also thought about doing that but really dont want anything blowing up in my facei think we got lucky in the last venture hahah!
If you can wait another few hours or day or two I would wait for a some reviews! I think you’re doing the right thing and are rightfully cautious!so much gimmick in the weed world!
I am going to try some decarbing weed flower and getting into an oil so my wife can make some chocolates and cookies! : ) and then I’ll give the press a shot ( I think that would be the best!)
I have heard Dabpress is pretty good, watched a lot of reviews on YouTube and read a lot of reviews online, but I have never used one before as I don't dab enough to justify spending that kind of money when I already have a cheap hand lever press. If I were to get another rosin press I would get a Dabpress. When I was looking it up I saw they have a pretty wide range depending on how serious you take the hobby. I did the research a while ago when I was considering buying one, but I never followed through with it.I see so many presses for hobby growers that I'm not sure what is junk and what is good.
Oh boy......If you're in the States go with dabpress, can't go wrong with them on quality and service.
If you're in the UK or Europe Devilpress is a good alternative rather than paying customs fees with dabpress International shipping.
And get yourself a good set of bubble hash bags and camping 5gal washing machine and you're golden
Personally I like using a jacketed stainless steel 135g extraction column too for solvent extractions, with the jacketed version you can use dry ice for a cleaner end product.
It's all down to personal preference and what you're aiming for in the end, i find making solvent extractions then purging and decarbing for edibles makes a much cleaner and tastier product too but again personal preference
My favourite way to go right now is fresh frozen flower and run through the bubble hash bags, then dry it out and press it for live rosintasty tasty
I could talk about extracts for hours so I'll stop there haha, I only came in to recommend those brands
I'm gonna follow along though and watch as you descend down the rabbit hole of concentratesthis is one of my favourite topics about cannabis have fun amigo and best of luck!
Start simple. Bubble bags then an add a wash mashing next a press and if you want to go nuts buy freeze dryer. Jeremy Silva does a video with Pedro on you tube that has really good info on making hash - rosin. With the addition of 2 new tents this year, I'm finally growing enough that my fiance can't keep up and I no longer need to buy elsewhere in between harvests.
You would think this is all good news but now I'm producing more flower then 2 people can smoke so I'm wanting to learn about extraction and making different cannabis products.
I'm interested in making the following,
Hash
Wax, Rosin/Live Rosin, etc
Vape juice
Baked Goods, maybe some candy
Infuse Js and Cones
RSO
Topicals
I don't even know everything that can be made so if there's something you like that I didn't list, please share!
I understand there's a some good threads on the processes for making some of these things, I'll definitely be checking them out.
I'm not looking for someone to walk me through extraction, yet

Brand recommendations would be appreciated as well.
I'm looking on dabpress.com and keep going back and forth between the 6 ton and 8 ton. Part of me is like spend the little extra and get the 8 ton now but then again I could get the 6 and later on change the jack out with a 8 ton. When you buy a press make sure it has a gauge that shows how hard you are squeezing it. I have a four ton that doesn’t have a gauge and I wish It did.
?Oh boy......
I think the higher ton would be nice. With the 4 ton I’m just squeezing it as hard as possible. I think with the higher ton without gauge it would be a guessing game on when the bags blow out.I'm looking on dabpress.com and keep going back and forth between the 6 ton and 8 ton. I don't see them offer one with a pressure gauge until 10 ton, you have to buy the pump separately so the cost is quite a bit more then the 8 ton.
The 6 and 8 ton use a standard bottle jack, if it isn't already tapped and plugged for it already, I can drill and tap a hole for a pressure gauge.
Have yet to find a bottle jack that I couldn't add a gauge to.
Thanks to everyone who replied!
Dabpress is what I seen coming up everywhere when searching, I'll check them out and post what I come up with.
As far as decarb, do most of you just use an oven or something?
I seen Ardent and STX decarb machines, seems to make it easier then other methods but doesn't mean it's any good.
Anyone use either of these?

Great question, I hope to hear feedback on this as well. What should I consider when choosing equipment for cannabis extraction?
