I like a good heated adult debate concerning LED's without objection we wouldnt move forward.

mace your grow is looking sweet and with that 1000watt you gonna get some really nice donkey dicks.

Took some pictures tonight. The pots in the Airpots are my 4 jillybeans and an American Thunder Fuck. They all just got transplanted tonight and given a bio-tea so hopefully the transplant shock will be minimal.

Day 32 of flower:

I'll try to get some photos off of my friends attic LED grow this weekend. He is using approximately 70 LED panels (16 watt) and pulls about 1.5-2.5 lbs a month. A little bit too much maintenance for my likes. Leds have to remain about 1-2 inches from plants to have most effect. His main reason for use is heat not production. His house runs completely off grid with solar panels and windmills. Many different ways to grow, some prefer one over the other, sometimes even sacrificing quality/quantity over style.

I think that LED's are the future and applaude those of you taking the expense and time to figure out what works best. This type of testing will do the same thing that remote growing did for solar. I look forward to the day when a 1000w hps can be replaced with a 1w led. People throughout history have condemed new ideas, but persistance will overcome. One of these days I want to test the hyperbaric chamber grow.

Thanks. I am happy that people do still try these. I have been curious as to what can be done. The makers of these lighting systems are awfully proud of them charging those prices. I have seen test that grow other crops quite nicely. However we are not talking about those crops and light penetration is not an issue there.

Hi Mace....I've been playing around with cheapo ebay £30 LED panels.....two solid blues and one mixed red and blue (mostly red). I've been vegging with all three panels to see how they do in comparison with my 2x55w fluoros, with canna, tomatoes, poppies, catmint and some random flowers and after about 2 months of observation I can safely say they veg a LOT slower than fluoros. They work....the plants aren't dead and are growing, but they just grow a LOT slower than the fluoros. I wouldn't recommend cheapo ones for canna on the basis of my experience for anything other than early propagation....unless heat and space really is a massive issue.

I'll do some proper grows and document them to show the diffs, but the cheap stuff clearly isn't cut out for the job of farming. I'm sure many of you already know this....Core, BH etc....but thought I'd share my experiences. Cheap and cheerful but keep expectations low.

Mnm: yes, i definitely will do that when i get it all trimmed up.

Homebrew: overall the penetration power needs to come up a lot before these things are ready, id say. Though, they make for great side lights that's for sure.

Chef: welcome to the thread

Fastforward: thanks for posting that info in the thread. The blues are much weaker price wise when comparing to the other colors. And to top it off red's are barely being looked at right now as well. Lol, who knows how long it will take, im thinking another year or two. The plasma bulbs might be the next best thing. Though these led's are great for micro grows.

Update:
Any day now guys, harvest window is first week of april. Watching trichs starting the 1st. Here's some quick pictures for you.
On, a side note. The urkle im smoking out of the bay is rock hard and fantastic! :party0044:

Harvested today, as you can see.
Will be posting final weight in about 5 or 6 days i'd imagine.

Though the pictures tell the story well, im very happy with the undergrowth. Everything seems to have nugged up very nicely, and smells very sweet.

I know it's a crappy update but life has hit the fan, so to speak.

Only weighed the smaller of the two plants, 4.5 ounces. The other was slightly bigger and i will guestimate 5 ounces. Roughly 10 ounces from a 1k HPS with 4 supplimental LED's 90 watt ufo's. Im not unimpressed, im not impressed. Pretty nominal yield on average all things considering.

Next grow will be a full assortment of plants, not just 2 31" bubblegum's.
It's going to be a breeding grow. Ill be crossing Jilly bean with American Thunder Fuck, Green Crack, Bubble Gum, and Jack Herer; plus, doing a Nepales highland 10 seed test grow. If you're interested in this ill post a link here when i start the thread so that it's easy to find.
