I see that honey has like four different goodies sold alone as boosters by some companies, funny once more something the guy who taught me to grow used to say ring so very true -"Man cannot out-do nature, ever, ya know?!" - The Old Man.
jaysin, by oils i am guessing you mean what is inside the trichomes? ,,,,,
interesting info, i have been smoking since the mid seventies, even earlier, like 1972 thru 1986, but stopped from 1986 till 2000 and have been smoking up till present time, and growing thru these times as well. I still feel like a dummy sometimes with basic information like the oils questions i presented earlier,,lots has changed with marijuana thru these times, like now an ounce of weed costs more than an ounce of cocaine here,,wow, but tons of strains with wild new names, new hybridsI'm not Jaysin, but yes- it's entirely possible for trichomes NOT to have any of the essential oils we're actually trying to produce. This can be due to genetic factors- think 'hemp' grown for fiber and seed- or more likely for our purposes, environmental factors or disease/pest issues.
'Essential oils' are how the cannabis plant secretes the cannabinoids we're looking for. Remember- if the part of the plant you're looking at is green, it's just there to carry and produce what we want- it doesn't actually have the active ingredients in it.
This is why the various methods of hash processing are effective, because the good stuff is already on the outside of the plant.
Anyone ever try dialing down the light intensity % on a digital ballast during the last weeks of flower? Just thinking about this today, I know during winter the sun's path is lower in the sky causing for shorter days and I believe less lumens.
Wikipedia "at latitudes of 65 degrees the change in solar energy in summer & winter can vary by more than 25% as a result of the Earth's orbital variation"
So, with a digital ballast having 4 variable settings (s-bright, 100%, 75%, and 50%) you could dial down the intensity of the light one setting per week for the last 4 weeks. My hypothesis is that this may have an effect on the plants hormones signaling to it that winter is coming and therefore possibly speeding up flowering times.
Thoughts on this? tried this?
I've been doing a little digging through my catalogs, and I found an interesting piece of equipment from our friends at Sentinel (www.growgps.com) called the DRT-1 Digital Recycling Timer. This allows for full control of light and dark cycles, independent of the 24 hour clock.
Been wondering what a 12 hour dark and 20-24 hour light period might do for the girls- and that's just one of many possible scenarios this device would allow someone to explore...
apoptheosis
I love that you combined apoptosis and apotheosis here--only someone with a big vocabulary would be capable of that :)
have you evr used sucanat from wholesome foods,,,, i think its beetcane sugar mostly,,,,i thought it enhanced the taste alot and made me wanna smoke each joint down till it burnt my fingers,, like a thicker carmel taste and worked on some strains better than othersThe next closest carb is table sugar lol, it also dont leave a taste behind, and is almost as effective as honey as far as final push for more production during last weeks. Honey seems to have a small kick nothing else has as far as I have seen.
