Here are the values I put into the above links calculator. I took the weight value and converted it to metric. I want to use 1 gal for amount and 15 ml for the dose. This way we can compare all formulas.

Did I do this right?

Most AN users are surprised when they see urea(synthetic piss) in their formula. Your total at the bottom I question. So with 15 ml of A and B you get 164-75-205-48-28
A and B with Big bud 164-116-360-48-161
This as you can see is high in P in flowering which will kill bennies, low in Ca.
When we get enough of these we can get someone to put this in a format so it will be easy to compare other formulas and costs. We can make a sticky out of it. JK

Hey guys, love to see the topic of this thread, since I love to save money on dry ferts, but also want the best for my plants . I've been working to try to replicate some of the popular and proven effective formulas, with the help of Fatman here


Right now, I've been using Maxibloom Dry by General Hydroponics, it roughly emulates Lucas, and has NPK of 5-15-14. its a little low on Nitrogen, so I have some calcium nitrate powder I add about 10-15% of in veg to boost it to match Lucas.


I am becoming interested in some Bloom Boosters and Flowering Additives.


I'm running a basic Lucas formula, which I am pretty happy with and plan to use throughout my grow. I am using just powder noots.

However, I have to give some credit to a lot of testimony from growers who have had good experience with 'boosters,' essentially PK boosters. I believe GH Koolbloom is like 0-45-25, but AN Hammerhead is 0-9-18 (notice the high K).

I'd like to be able to formulate a home made 'PK booster' type, because I really do believe people have good results with these (know people who get 3lb+ per plant using AN). I don't claim that AN brand name is a magic, but I believe their ingredients can be reproduced cheaply.

For example, these products are shown to have good results:
Bud Blood 0-12-25


Big Bud 0-2-4


Overdrive 1-5-4



Notice, I believe some of these additives also have B vitamins and perhaps micro nutrients as well.
Also, here are AN's dry powder 1 part noots. I suspect they are identical to their liquid formulas.

I went over to AN's site today, and noticed they also sell a line of dry base nutrients, however they are no hyped at all and in fact extremely difficult to find anywhere (probably because price markup is less)

I got this information simply for their webpage. My personal view on AN, is I believe they are a quality good product, and do really good research and get good formulas, however I do believe they make a lot of money as essentially they are selling water with additives (as with most nut companies) for 100-250x markup. DoubleD's uses AN and gets over 3+ lbs per plant. Can't really say they are bad. I would love to see D's run some nutrient experiments in his system, but thats probably asking a lot :) Eventually I'll have a similar system up and can run some tests myself

i calculated the liquids using the 15 ml and used the defualt for the additives, i have a weight for my container but no scale to mesaure weight per ml...

when mixing my own noots, say if I buy he individual fertilizers, do I need to worry about chelators or just, basically measure out and mix?

Right now I have calcium nitrate I use to boost my nitrogen for my formula, thinking about getting a few more ingrediants and mixing up everything myself.

I use bagged micros. I would do some reading before I started a crop,you just need a little math and a scale. The biggest problem I find is stoners can not remember what the last salt was they poured into their rez, or can not do the math and overdose their girls. If you keep good notes you probably will have no problems. JK

I really dont understand do i run the ghe 3 parts all the way untill flushing time do i have ghe grow, ghe micro and ghe blom or do i only use micro and blom? Whitch one in vegg and what in blom? Please need all help i CSN get

I am seeking a recommendation for making my own Micro and Bloom liquid concentrate.

Background: I typically use GH Flora Micro and Bloom; Lucas formuala for inert media, H3ad formula for coco.

Recently, I ran of bloom, and bought 5 pounds of mono potassium phosphate
(0-52-34)

I dissolved it in 5 gallons of distilled water, and poured into my old 6 gallon container of bloom. The PK is almost dead on (by calculation) but of course there is no magnesium and sulphur as in regular GH bloom.

So I have been adding epsom salt to adjust. It works, but I don't care for more than two bottles.

I have read not to mix MKP and magnesium anything in the same concentrate.
The derived from label on the original GH bloom bottle has all kinds of this and that carbonate, which don't seem readily available. I guess those are old school for fertilizers.

You may point out that I can weigh each salt every time I adjust my nutes, but I am trying to stick with easy to measure liquid nutes.

If anyone is wondering why I would do all this:
My original 6 gallon bottle of bloom was $138.

My new 5 gallon concentrate cost me about $17

JK, I ask you because you are the only person I've seen here who uses bulk mineral salts.

After reading my above post, I realized I asked about micro and bloom, but I just need help on the bloom. Mixing micros and calcium nitrate to make my own Micro is easy enough.

Nice job on that label chart saltr! I def need to do the same and determine my nutrient profiles... :hunter: I wonder if there are more recent and widely accepted profiles since those published years ago in the MJ handbooks... :thinking

Just find the weight of your nutes,what is in them and run it thru the calculator. JK

I'm all for saving money and diy philosophies but I don't think these nutrient companies are being accurate when it comes to the guaranteed analysis on their packaging. There is also a lot to consider when it comes down to choosing the oxides you will use to get the exact ratios for your finished solution.
