Greetings all!
Hope you folks are all having a wonderful day/life. This is my first real attempt at growing fine caliber buds. I did a pretty shabby forest floor grow when I was younger and yielded a couple grams. The fulfillment was intense however.
Since then I’ve worked in organic agriculture for about 5 years so I have some understanding of how plants work. But I suck at growing stuff indoors. Anyway..... here is my setup!

Currently 1 phlizon 600w led panel

3 five gal buckets each with three seedlings. Varieties are simple jack, chocolate eruption and don Carlos.

I have started with Fox farms ocean forest and have the grow big, big bloom and tiger bloom to use. I have ph test strips coming, another 600w phlizon and a 2x4 grow tent all on the way, hoping to make it a little more legit and get some super dank. I hope to keep this updated with my progress! The little (hopefully) ladies just sprouted two days ago and I hope they are looking normal. Let me know what you think! Thank you!

Kudos on your grow.

The only thing I would do is raise the light to 24” as they are starting off and lower it down as needed as they get bigger and can handle it.

Can’t really tell how high they are currently is why I say that.

Looks good though.

Thanks ! I am measuring about 12-15 inches from all the seedling tops. The reason being it seemed like they were stretching a lot. How do the pics look? If you can even tell...

They look good. You’re off to a good start. Just make sure to have good air exchange with your ventilation and a small fan blowing over them to thicken up the stalks.

If anyone has experience with these lights please let me know!

I think I'm going to end up with two of these 600w phlizons inside a 2x4x6 tent. overkill? I've read mixed things about the cheap full spectrum LEDs and the flowers they produce. at the very least, there will be a lot of light for the plants.

I think most of us would start them in a 4-6 inch pot them transplant the best ones. I’ve grown up to four in a 5 gallon and one always dominates the others. Got any gravel in the buckets for drainage?

I have a bit of coco coir at the bottom but no gravel.. and yeah I am seeing that all over now haha. Also thinking about methods for sexing them, I might take and label clones from each and move them right into flower so I can figure out which are males so I can remove them and let the girls fill out the gaps again... not sure

Once you get to about 4 weeks of veg they should start showing you their sex with preflowers. Not sure you want to wait that long but if you do.

Good eye. With the purple lights they blended right in. There’s multiple in the white pot too.

Oh yes? Are preflowers generally guaranteed around that point?

Usually. Not all strains show but many do.

As an example my AKs have been preflowering for two weeks. The choco ds have no signs of preflowers. The choco ds are selfed so I know they are all female so it’s not a big deal but I am surprised they don’t have any signs of preflowers. The AK are from F1 seeds and out of 4 I got two females, 1 hermie and 1 male. Shocked I got a hermie, but it was unmistakeable so it got the axe.

Here is an update. Everyone’s growing slowly but surely. Don Carlos are all looking beautiful (white bucket). Simple jack (2 plants in blue bucket in middle) is looking pretty weird, any advice? The middle growth is fairly yellowed while it looks very uneven on one plant. The chocolate eruption got (what I think was) wind burn so I have changed my airflow situation and it seems to be recovering. The patches on the leaves still kinda worry me but the new stuff looks healthy.

Photo 1 - don Carlos baby

Photo 2,3 - simple jack , small and weird

Photo 4 is chocolAte eruption with a bit of discoloration
