It's been raining here and probably will continue through the weekend so this is good I can let the rain pass before I harvest.Getting close, but still looks like too many clear trichomes in some of the pics.
In the past that's how I would check it. Most people suggested a 60/40 white to red(brown) stigmas so I would decide based on that.No. Put the microscope away until all the white stigmas are red and shriveled.
I'd definitely cut nutrients now and give her water and enzymes ..She's literally days away IMHO. I like a low amber ratio though..If you want an up high, euphoric feeling check it again in a couple of days ..UNLESS those amber trichs are on the leaves and not on the buds..You want the amber on the buds and small sugar leaves to have that amber if its on just the larger leaves you may have to wait a week or two, but no more nutes. And decide when you want to chop it, let it sit for 10 days with no more water, this will stress the plant just enough to put on a few more trichomes and put the water in the fridge this too will help with one last trichome production....In the past I have just roughly guessed if my plants were ready. I picked up a scope and took some pics this time and I think it looks ready but was hoping for some guidance from the pros. All the plants are super silver haze x apple juice if that maters. I think they are ready. I was having a hard time focusing even without the magnification, not sure if it was the rain, so some of the pics aren't the best.

Won't any new trichomes be clear prolonging the wait for amber? I think I took the wrong pill.I'd definitely cut nutrients now and give her water and enzymes ..She's literally days away IMHO. yeah i have stopped feeding. Watering unfortunately I have no control over. Its been raining here everyday for a week and is expected to continue through wednesday. I am actually afraid that it might cause bud rot, this is a reason I am pretty anxious to harvest. I am checking twice a day making sure things aren't heading south cause of all the rain. It gonna be a decent harvest and I would hate to lose it to bud rot..I'd definitely cut nutrients now and give her water and enzymes ..She's literally days away IMHO. Stigmas turn red in all cannabis strains.Mr. Mystic,
My first year cultivating cannabis. It’s a sativa strain outside. I’m in the north east. I’ve read a lot on this forum regarding harvest timing based pill/stigma color and trichome transparency. You mention not to worry about tc until most of the stigmas are discolored and shriveled.
Questions:
Is stigma yellowing / discoloration strain related? In other words do all cannabis stigmas discolor? Will some strains have near normal stigmas while the tc have clouded up? I’m thinking stigma senescence, rotting, yellowing is related somewhat to the environment. Mine is outside and heading into the upper 30’s tonight.
Trichomes
The plant went from crystal clear gems to now more cloudy. Is it better to wait until a few have turned brown to ensure all are cloudy? Most of experienced members say. - you thinks it’s time to harvest? give it another week.
Thanks,
Zill.
Not always, but usually..I've had plants still throwing white hairs like crazy and it was ambered up pretty goodStigmas turn red in all cannabis strains.
You may be looking at trichs on leaves rather than on flower bracts. Leaf trichs don't count. They turn color way before the plant is finished.
But you're outside. You have to consider when the first frost rolls around (about mid-November for NYC) because you should harvest before then, no matter what the trichs and stigmas look like. Also consider that if the daytime temperatures are in the 50s, there will be no growth, very little advancing maturity. When daytime temperatures don't break 60 and it's unlikely they will in the future, you might as well chop them.
are your buds seperated? not against each other? If they are pull them away so wind can get through and sunshineyeah i have stopped feeding. Watering unfortunately I have no control over. Yeah each main cola is separate but on 4 of my plants they are extremely dense, I pulled 2 buds off today that was starting to rot they were lower on the stem and small, everything else looked goodare your buds seperated? not against each other?
