Oh yeah , I have picked off about 5 or so this grow had one eat ALot before I found him, never had problems with pests before this year is kicking my butt! I hired a Cuban tree frog. He has been hanging out on porch haven't seen anymore in a while.

Moth larvae. They'll eat through every flower stem. Most moth species lay from 20-50 eggs and the larvae will destroy flowers. Neem oil or BT at least weekly until 2 weeks before harvest.

This stuff has worked well for me in the dirt around the stalk, like if they get out of control. I used it for other pests In the past as a pre treat when I had some in the ground. And I have dusted it on them , they look liked shit for days until it all washed off Says it works on caterpillars too. I used it for grasshoppers or something back then , it Worked well . It's a powder aka dust. If picking them off manually isn't an option. I don't know what pest control practice is for cannabis . Other than use nothing if possible but sometimes you just need help. I smoked that plant when I finally got it thru its issues well after I dusted it and I'm not dead so that's a plus So I just use manual intervention or stuff that is ok to use on food I eat.

Did a search of week by week flowering, nothing looks like mine, so I guess I’ll just keep an eye on it? And if it comes out shitty I’ll just make hash or something.

I've been kinda following your grow and we are in the same zone and state I think ?? I think you started to flower about two weeks after me or so? I'm in week 17 and I think I'm gonna finish close to labor day or starting August 25th ish . When did you plant ? I planted on St Patty's day.

Just thought I would update real quick.

Plants are doing good. Still have the question of where my PH actually is. To my inexperienced eye, they don’t look too sad. So I might just keep an eye on it in case.

I did buy a pump sprayer in case I need to hit them with the bug spray, after that spider web I thought it would be a good idea.

Planning for next summer, my wife and I are in agreement that it’s best to have the plants in a locked space. We just adopted a teen, everyone knows the plants are back there but on the off chance CPS stops by. Bought a dog kennel on amazon, gonna wrap the walls with a shade cloth. I plant to get it set up, and till the dirt under it. Wanna get some garden edging and create a path way. Then fill the two sides with horse shit and let them sit. I’ve been reading about companion plants for cannabis, so I plan to start some in the greenhouse for my winter grow, and hope to transplant them outside for the summer.

Awesome to know , I always wondered if I picked right . I went with it because I used to be a vet technician years ago and it works really well on animals , ( comfortis ) relatively safe to humans and animals . I have cats so I hate hate hate using pyrethrin products . As they are poisonous to cats . I am mixed on the neem oil. I know it's fabulous but here , there is to much UV all day and night and I grow outside . I sprayed some once at like when no light put them in the darkest spot I could find and I still burnt them.

Also wanna ask about flowering!

It’s the time of year it should start right. I have One plant that’s been trying to flower since like may. Got some white hairs, they turned orange when the days got longer, then it started throwing white ones July 8. It hasn’t (obviously) slowed down, and is starting to resemble some colas I’ve seen pictures of. FUCKING STOKED.

My question, we start counting days when it starts flowering right? And it seems like september-october is usual harvest time. But what am I looking for specifically?

I have all different strains (I think) so I’m gonna have some guess work cut out for me.

This is the plant in question, thought the pics were better when I was outside

Okay, I think this is the only one going for it. A few more have pistils but they’re all much lankier. The flowering one is definitely filling in.

I have NO idea, this is my first grow and I’m using bag seed I’ve had for years. Made things interesting.

Right now I’m just outdoor in sunny california, 30 gallon fabric pots, and as I’ve learned recently growing with very alkaline soil and water

I have GG 4, Pineapple Haze, and Tropicana purple cookies or punch or something from you guys for the next round.

Hey there!

Bag seed adventures are always a wild ride, but they can surprise you in the best ways! Growing in sunny California is a great start—gotta love that natural sunshine. Those 30-gallon fabric pots will give your plants plenty of room to stretch their roots.

Alkaline soil and water can be a bit tricky, but don’t worry, it’s all part of the learning process. You might want to consider adding some organic matter or sulfur to help lower that pH. It can make a world of difference.

And wow, GG 4, Pineapple Haze, and Tropicana Purple Cookies/Punch sound like a fantastic lineup for your next round! You're going to have a blast with those. If you need any tips or run into any issues, feel free to reach out. We’re all in this together. Happy growing!

Cheers!

I feel ya on this. I built a greenhouse because the law in our state (mn) says locked and away from kids. My first test grow started last October and was finally killed in February when I couldn’t pump enough heat to overcome -20F weather. Started again in March and all was perfect for like two weeks and then on a 70F day my greenhouse hit 125F. Freakout! Had to totally reconstruct all of my ventilation and add in fogging lines for summer. I probably have to upgrade my exhaust fan too. Sized my fan to online calculators and learned there’s no such thing as too large a fan. The dynamics of getting a greenhouse to work well are way complicated. In your weather… holy hell… seems like fall-spring is the only chance.

I'm in the mountains in California and the heat struggle is real this summer. This is the tough shed that I use and it took two intakes and three vents to keep everything under 100 degrees for the last 6 weeks. Those baby autos on the outside sit there getting partial sun because any more than that and they are getting torched to death with a quickness.
