Do you have any perlite or pumice in the mix? If not that's probably the root of your issue, and its prob overwatering lol.

Starting to think I messed with these plants and hermied them. or it’s my guilty conscience, I didn’t know what the seeds were when I started. sendhelp

this is the one where I learned about plant balls and the perks of having feminized seeds
I have never used feminized seeds ......... Old school at first it seemed like allot of people was complaining about the plants being a hermaphrodite.
I guess now your pretty much guaranteed a feminized seed ill be a female .
I rather plant 5 regular seeds and flip the plants some where around 3 weeks old to develop the plants sex and then reveg or toss the males , and develop a female mother plant for clones.
My clones I know what I have. also makes matching them in height simple. now I am main lining the clones on the indoor perpetual Hydroponic grow.

oh im not discrediting myself at all. Everything ive said here about pot color and volume comes from experience and application.

But when im wrong about something ill also happily admit it, and default to the better information immediately

yup, learning the perks of clones pretty quickly haha. I do like the mystery of not knows by what’s in my bag seed mix but I would also love some stable genetics.

I might get some non feminized seeds at some point, it would be good to have my own stash. I would just breed jack herer with everything, I love that shit.

i got 3 plant out there right now, from an old deadhead that grows out in MO. He planted the original jack, and the original big bud, in the same patch, reg seed, and hasnt pulled any males in 30 years. Just been letting em swap pollen and keeping the seed from his favoite buds.

The buds he gave me i pulled the seed from were giant 2+ gram point christmas trees that smelled and tasted of pine so strong is stains the sinuses

I had forgot about that terp profile being a think entirely for probably over a decade. That smell and taste used to be EVERYWHERE.

Im very glad the feminized seed market isnt full of genetic XXy (double x/y) chromosome plants ruining harvests and disappointing consumers in the outlaw states consistently like it once was. For a while there were lots of breeders who didnt even know there were two different kind of hermaphridite plants, and one of them, is a grow destroyer.

Someone would have to fist fight me, and win handily to get me off the non inbred F1 thing though. I have 9 week old, 5 foot tall 5 foot wide bushes out there that havent even noticed the heatwave. Thats not my inbred plants lol. But i also did just pop a few feminized stabilized plants as well that im quite excited about. Very excited actually. Since those plants likely possess highly desirable/repeatable character of some kind. I honestly have no idea what my F1 flower will really be like til i try it lol.

Theres a magic to growing a truly unique, beast of a plant no one has ever had or seen before, that is gone forever when you decide to let the clone go. I find it kinda beautiful honestly.

does he ship to california?

I was just trying to google non fem jack herer and didn’t find much other then sensei seeds out of state.

Maybe I’ll wait to get good enough at keeping plants alive without crisis before I try to breed them

i got em from an old deadhead i used to buy my acid from lmao. Ive since sent the remaining beans on sadly.

The original jack genetics are mostly extinct. This is the closest ive ever got, and it was pollen chucked with bib bud for a long time in a single place. Its gonna be a pretty long shot from the original at this point.

trustworthy source in my book! I worked with an old deadhead in my youth, we would drive to san francisco and this dude always had the biggest fucking joints. One time he looked at me real non chalant and said he’s taken over 300 hits of acid in his life. And he can make crack in the microwave. Hell of a guy.

the stroy this old deadhead gave me, was that after jack died his legacy got sold off to barnies farm (a story since corroberated by some here) and they bred it out into other lineages without keeping the original.

This old cat was originally from Mendo cali area, and he said the original jack was everywhere out there still until the last couple decades. As more and more growers started getting closer together, and people were being careless with males on adjacent land, the original jack genetics were lost out there and intermingled into other more indica dominant lineages accidentally during breeding runs, and thats never discovered fully til plants are growing the following season.

My ojxbb plants are also a bit more indica then they really should be (all but one), idk how much of the "its only been jack and BB" he told me is actually legit. I do tend to trust him, nd 30 yers is a lot of season to let it interbreed on its own. It may have naturally favored more indica traits growing in the mid west, but he also did say he only kept seeds form his best buds which slows down natural environmental selection massively.

I do know those buds tasted like buds i aint had in like 20 years, thats for sure.

Much like you said though, I’m not tripping on genetics too much, but it would be really cool to make an original strain, even if it’s just that one plant.

the root of my love for F1's is my own lazyness.

They dont need a hand held. Shit i could prob toss em in a flood plane and come back and harvest weed in fall. no other steps necessary. Theyll surface germ on soil, find their own footing and stand themselves up, ive tested it in solo cups anyway. Its really cool to see. They move all the time, and almost make decisions for themselves while growing. Im constantly pruning and adjusting/opening up all my plants but the F1s. Ive done basically nothing but hoe in some goat shit and water them really.

And F1 isnt a strain, its just a first generation cross of two completely unrelated lineages. I just named it peaceblaster because its a good weed name, all the plants have has super happy smiley highs, and so people know what plants im talking about. F1s happen by accident sometimes, that's what most of the free fem seeds are. Accidental fem F1 crosses usually. If you dont keep the right plants around you cant stableize those, useless for breeders, great for advertisement ;) ..... Every seed made will produce a unique, and often excessively vigorous phenotype that will usually grow faster, get bigger, be more potent, yield more, and flower quicker then either parent. Some will be better then others, but tbh, ive not run an F1 yet where nearly every phenotype wasnt more desirable in one way or another then either parent. The further from inbreeding i got, the more impressive and unique each individual plant became.

My peaceblaster is half columbian land race, a 14+ week plant. Ive had heavily sativa dom pheno from these seed that finish in 7 weeks solid and have also been the highest yielding, and most enjoyable flower to smoke ive honestly ever grown.

This where the "youd have to fist fight me and win to get me off this bandwagon" comment comes in.

Imho, once you nail your growing technique, genetics are the single biggest factor that remains. Tbh, at that point, its all that really matters anymore.

not many breeders or seed banks sell them, because they arent repeatable, if you buy it again youll get different plants and that can be bad for business.

Yea you can make autoflower F1s, its just a first gen cross of unrelated plants.

Royal Queen is genuinely the only breeder i know of personally that markets photperiod F1 seeds regularly. Doesnt mean there arent more though.
