I live in Virginia right next to the NC and VA boarder and it's really humid here that being said things can get moldy really easy. When I harvest my plants I have a hanging drying net but how should I keep my room temperature wise? Dry and warm an cooler? Should I leave my windows open for natural outside temp to get it or control the temp myself?

No control the temperature yourself with an ax try to keep it as close to 60 as you can. Most ac goes to 62. Then keep the humidity as close to 60% as possible. Go 50-60 since it’s so humid mold could happen. Anything over 65% has a slight chance to mold. As long as you are between 55-70 degrees and 50-60% you will be golden. I repeat do not leave your room window open. You worked months to get here where your at doing everything inside. Don’t let stupid weather from outside be what ruins many months of work

Well theyre already outside lmao that's why I figured leaving the window open would be fine. I got some hygrometers I'll use tho for the percentage. How do people get denser bugs than others? Is that bc of the curing process or strain genetics?

Well for bud density it is a combination of things. You need a dialed in environment like to hot or humid and the bud will foxtail losing shape.

Also you need a good nutrient availability of p and k in flower after the first two weeks. Some bloom boosters will help get the p and k you need. Also cal mag so your plant doesn’t stop taking up p and k.

The third final deciding factor and this is the big one is genetics. When buying genetics the breeder will usually say if it will produce dense buds. You can’t make the plant produce dense buds if it’s not in the genetics. My blue dream isn’t as dense as my witches wedding which is just a wedding cake. No mater how perfect I make it it just won’t do it. But I can get pretty close to dense with perfecting the first two factors as close as I can.

I'm in va too. Our humidity is the enemy of fat, dense buds. Just trashed an entire outdoor auto due to bud rot and mold. It was just for grins and giggles that I ran it outside. If you make it through flower with no mold, drying will require some level of temp and humidity control. Are you running autos or photos? What temp and humidity are you able to hit indoors? I ask because if these are photos, you won't be harvesting for 2-3 more months when seasonal temps and humidity will be lower and easier to manage. If these are autos coming down in the heat and humidity of summer, temps and humidity will need to be lowered to below 70-70 at minimum for drying and lower if possible.

Another VA grower here, I am planning to set up a greenhouse in my garage and use a dehumidifier / portable AC unit in there to maintain consistent levels for drying. I am not 100% sure if I have photo or auto though (someone gave me a half dozen plants, with minimal info), one of them might be an auto as it is flowering well and remained smaller than the others, those appear to still be growing upwards although are starting to flower.

83% humidity outside here at the moment, yuck.

Mine are royal gorilla photos. But temps won't be hard to reach it's the humidity I'm worried about because its so back an forth or just plain too much. My hvac takes care of the temp

From my limited searches, it looks like this strain produces sort of fat main buds. Fatter/denser the bud, the more moisture retention and liklihood of mold. If possible, get a window fan blowing on them to aid in managing moisture. I haven't researched yet but perhaps some preventative measures can minimize potential issues. H2O2 solution comes to mind but not sure. Photos have quite a way to go. Concentrate on getting to an uneventful finish and worry about drying later imo.

With it being so humid here if I put a window fan in wouldn't that make it worse? Can't I jus put my hvac on 70 and shut my windows and point one of those mini heaters at em except jus the fan with no heat?

You mentioned above they were outdoors. If you're indoors ac should manage excessive humidity.

Yes they are, I was mainly worried about drying them when I bring them in to do so. I seen a chart that had each level of humidity percentage, like 50%-60% ect. With different ways to trim and dry them in each one and for the percentage that falls where I'm at it said not to hang them to dry cause the stems have moisture. It said to trim all leaves and stems off an dry them individually in their drying net. Is that a good idea? Do I still hang the whole plant for three days prior to that or do I just get right to trimmin??
