This will be my first ever "legal" grow. I have a greenhouse 15ftx15ft Ive done a few less than mediocre gorilla grows knowing nothing about nutes an stages. Ive germinated 10 Sweet Seeds Outdoor female mix (non auto-flower), 1 Dr. Krippling Incredible Bulk, 1 Dinafem Og Kush. As of today they are all nestled in red solo cups containing pro mix. I made a batch of subcools recipe for his super soil about a month ago. I plan to use compost tea for watering when needed. Any water will be rain water as its how i water my lawn an veg/fruit garden as well. My grow time will be between April till late October with the use of the green house. Ive read a ton of threads on this site an others an choose this one as it seemed to be the most informative an helpful. imo its been harder finding information on outdoor grows than indoor, an more specifically outdoor w/o pots. Its been my experience that planted in ground outgrew pots, but ive only done less than ok gorilla grows. Plus as always money is a factor. Thanks for any help, advice, encouragement along the way, im looking forward to keeping a journal an pics to document my hiccups an learning process for the next grow.

Hello and welcome to the farm! I really prefer OD growing, and I don't care for growing in pots so we built raised beds for my cultivation. Not exactly directly in-ground, but close.

I thought of doing beds/planter boxes but my greenhouse, (hoophouse) isnt in its permanent location. so they will have to go direct. I dont do the indoor as I cant afford the electric bill and its way easier for me to grow 12 outside then inside. Today i completely engulfed my hoophouse with chain link fence as to be compliant with our states regulations. Its a major chore only because my hoophouse was already constructed an chain link fence isnt lite or easily draped over the structure. But its done!!! And one of my lil ladies poked her head out to join us. Nice to know/hear of others planting outdoor and direct. Thanks for info an saying hello

Ive been reading an researching "walipini's the past month or so an it definitely has my attention. As of now barring a major catastrophe I'm going to make a small "grave" like one the fall and test three plants. Should be interesting as by the middle of January we have about 3 feet of snow. I gotta know though. I use IBC totes to collect rain water from the gutters. I bought a 1/2 horse pump of ebay and stash it in box i built into the ground. I run 6 gear drive heads per zone. It seems to do better in the garden then for the lawn. I use a small single panel to power the pump. Have you ever seen or heard of anyone using a solar to power a heater for a greenhouse, that could be fun!!!!!!!

DONT LAUGH!! theres 11 seedlings just a bunch of the same. blah blah, dug my holes a bit deep and had to use some of existing top soil. temps been lows of 48 F and high of 72 F with roughly 55 % Humidity. I can grow 12 so i have a few regular known genetics and they cracked open this morn and are in red solos. l.a. chocolate, two dinafem afghan, two o.g. deadhead. hoping at least one is a female then she will join the rest of the ladies. till then they all stay separate. Nothing exciting an its a long spring n summer yet. Ill be happy if 3 survive

Also I had a deal show up in front of me at the local family farm home store. I walk in an on a little shelf all by themselves sit the trio pack from fox farm an a bag of guano. I knew it was weird right away as this store dont carry things like this. So i walk up and see a $2.00 price tag on all of them. I grabbed them an paid, at the register they didnt scan as they dont carry them. The cashier just punched in the $2.00 price. then said ive never seen these. I looked for more but to no avail. Im doing the organic an tea myself so only one will work an the guano, however I may do the one plant i still need with a ff nute sided by side for fun. Just something to keep me busy.

not much progress going on as its been pretty chilly snowed twice but melts by noon. I do have soil webs going on everywhere. Have to look as if i just leave them or mix it in.?

Okay heres an update, weather has started to warm up as of the last four or five days. Well let me specify, weather has been above freezing at night and mid 50's low 60's. My other pay attention to plants are doing well also. Planted an set up garden as well. I water everything outdoor with rain water and or composted teas. I snapped a couple pics of how I collect it, an my half horse pump that runs it. Nothing high tech an prolly not that pleasing on the eye. However its been more than effective an cost friendly. Just a lil glimpse around hoophouse land. Thanks

It's great to see another dirt farmer! I love learning about inside grows and there are some incredibly gifted farmers on this site, but outside growers have a slightly different set of methods they employ. I have a NorCal Outdoor Medical grow journal. Stop by and check it out.
I agree a lot of quiet time during the seedling stage of outdoor grow. We do a lot of our work in the months prior to the grow in feeding our holes everything they will need for next springs planting. If we do it right our work is easier throughout the grow.
I, too, did gorilla grows back in the day. Kind of different from now where I go to the local nursery (not hydro), tell them I am growing cannabis and they have friendly, knowledgable sales staff. Growing in a fenced, watered orchard with outbuildings to hold my tools of the trade...you will see, there is no going back.

This evening I will head to your nor cal medical grow journal an for sure check out your grow. Like i said this is my first time being able to be in the wide open with only fear being from thieves. Today I put in a thermometer an humidity gage to finally see. Temps at 2 pm were 101 with 40% humidity. Which is super odd to me as it was only 62 out with 48% humidity. Im going to have to look into what the ideal temps an humidity will be for inside this hoophouse. Yes I feel you on slow motion during an just after the seedling stages. Ive done all i can till its time to either water or trim some foliage back. I have a little indoor project i started in a tote and now its bloomed into more. My first intentions with it was to flower some plants an take the females an fill the vacant holes in hoophouse. But now its seems i may save one as an indoor toy ha ha.

Yup, that's too hot. You want it maybe 75-82 f. Of course it can drop some at night, I'm happy if I see 65 f in the morning. They can survive low 40's but they won't thank you for it.
If you could put a fan blowing in over the door with another fan blowing out the other side would let you control some heat. I have a fan on a timer that turns off at night. Air movement will help the overall health of the plants.

these plants have all seen an felt the 30's, they hve all experienced snow. Melted by the end of day, but still snow. I don't have any power. I can make a vent/flap on the opposite end of the door to create a breeze. But that will jeopardize my heat stored at night. I'llcome up with something. Thank you

thank u @Seamaiden so far mine do to, I also did somethin thinkin of our convo. I took some old plain Jane bag seed an just planted it ouside along edge of woods. I did this at the end of February. It's had over 8 inches of snow on it, been subjected to temps ranging from 15 f to 55 f, it's only about 3 inches tall, bug munch marks but damn it ITS A TROOPER, I did it just to prove if a strain isstrong it's strong. No matter, obviously there is good, better, best.

Its hopeless ! I have literally been reading an searching online for the last two hours and I have found nothing that even comes close or is along the line. Im not talking of growing cannabis in a hoophouse, Im talking of all the advice an guidelines are ALL OPPOSITE of what im experiencing. First I have no ventilation, that was intentional as to conserve heat at night. I have no fans blowing in or out. This is because i have no electric ran out to the backyard. My temps after 10 am climb until they hit 95-110 F. Depending on how direct the sun. Then at night it gets into the upper 30's to mid 40's. In the early morning the hoophouse is super clear an u can almost see straight in. By 10 am its foggy with condensation dripping. No matter the time of day the humidity stays between 42-47% on the regular. This goes against all kinds of docs an self reads. Im puzzled but until the ladies show me different NOTHING IS CHANGING. Everytime i take a peak in there, its hot as hell an there all prayin. No signs of stress, curling, notta !!!! Ill continue to chart an make my own notes...............
