Thanks! I've read a lot about a major defoliation in week three of flower but I'm hesitant to cut much off. I plan on cleaning up the lower part, but in your experience is there really a benefit to taking a bunch of the big fans off the top and middle for better light penetration? You don’t need any. Beautiful canopy!!Agree with your thought process that the defoliation could be helpful. Only remove what’s not above the scrog.
Thanks for the input! This is more along my line of thinking, I've just been tempted to do a heavy defoliation because of some crazy results I've seen from other growers. I think I'll stick to removing lower growth and probably a few fans here and there that are really blocking light from other bud sites. I'm excited to see how this plant turns out!I prefer to push them down. I’m a firm believer that fan leaves are the most important energy resource the plant has. The are also a source of food towards the end of flower. Plants will canibalize the fans stored nutrients. There are arguments that support both concepts. If you don’t know what you are doing, you can really stress the ladies with a heavy defoliation. I’m in for your show!!
I really like the idea of keeping the plants mobile while still utilizing a screen. I'll definitely be checking out your thread. Thanks!Very nice attempt at scrogging. I learned to grow using a scrog. It can be a very productive method if done correctly.
Timing and plant numbers are the biggest things in scrogs. If you don't manage the plants and flip at the right time you risk a total mess.
There's another approach to scrogs. It's called a floater scrog. I save time with no vegging into the screen and each plant gets its own floater to cover a 2x2 space. This keeps the plants mobile. If I need to move them I can.
Here lately I've been trying some floaters on autos and it's working fine.
If your curious I have some examples in my thread. Not been here to long so no much in there yet but I'm getting there.

I kinda have a similar prob....where I just keep raising the net and letting them run.....but at one point that net should be in place. Does one just keep raising it with the lights, or take a stance and "set it n forget it"?
This is my first proper photo grow and trying to figure out the balance of light intensity vs plant height vs finish hieght.....it's still a mystery for this guy, lol
Also, I plan to use some sort of a floating screen that gmonster714 outlined in the post above when doing multiple plants in one tent. You should definitely check out the thread they linked for some ideas.I kinda have a similar prob....where I just keep raising the net and letting them run.....but at one point that net should be in place.
