I'm actually new to topping myself, but I would've went for th redline from my understanding, I'm planning on doing mine really early here though.

not always, usually top after the 3rd of 4th and remove the bottom. Then top the 2 top branches again to make 10 branches total. Sometimes i'll remove all the bottom 2 later if they aren't keeping up which leaves 8, just depends on the plant.

Correct me if I'm wrong but here's a theory I just had:

The lower you top the better for yield because while the tops that you cut off were growing, so were the roots and while the new tops are regrowing, so are the roots so essentially, you'll have around double the root growth if you top lower.

Of course the plant would have a longer veg but could that be worth the stronger root structure?

I dont see where it makes a difference. Top on day 14 vs day 12? in veg time 32 day veg vs 30 days(maybe)? Not much dif to me. Someone should do a side by side lol.

No I didn't mean waiting longer or shorter. I meant topping above the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th... node.

Thanks for the replies everyone! This answers a lot. I'll clip a bit higher on the next grow to be safe. On the line you drew, I was scared to cut there without damaging those tiny leaves on the line. Do those matter? Thanks again!

Isnt that the same thing? I mean, if you only wanted to grow of the bottom node, you could top on day 7 or on day 14 when its already grown 4 nodes.

You can cut up a bit, if you're worried about th sides
Was just an example =p
I am new to topping.. completely. If you cut where I lined or just a bit above from my understand those two will grow out to be th new heads and keep on doing it like that with th new heads

I seen someone that done it like this and multiplied to 24 heads per plant
Thats what my aim is this grow, it starts during seedling stage/near end of seed stage

No, here's 2 scenarios:
1. Grow 4 nodes and cut the top one off.
2. Grow 4 nodes and cut the top three off.
Once #2 reaches the height that #1 was when it was topped, it will have a much better root structure. (but it will be much shorter than #1.)

exactly, that is mainlining/ manifolding lol

Thanks man, you guys are great. I'll post updates but they're all looking pretty good so far. Playing them some reggae for their morning to help them relax 😁

I agree. So if you want to flip at a certain height, plant 2 might need a day or two longer to get to that height.

I say it's definitely worth it.
It might take a few days longer in flower too, because you vegged longer. idk Someone should do a side by side experiment with clones and determin which way has the best relative yield.

That would be hard to do because they'd have to time them perfectly to be ready for flower at the same time.
