What is anyone's experience topping before the plant reaches the fifth node say for example after three nodes?

I start after the first set of leaves with 5 blades appears. Right above that node.

this is exactly the post i was looking for. i have purple kush auto and am i first time grower. i search the web before i ask questions here so as not to clutter up this place. i've read clip it after the 3rd node and some say after the 5th node, and some say don't clip at all.
with auto i would think do it quick or not at all. any advice from you auto growers would be great
thanks
dean

I guess I am a little confused because I saw your post above and looked at your plants and they did not really seem to match what you were saying.

Actually they look kind of sad. What time in the day light hour was that shoot taken?

Do not sweet it. We where are new at this at one point. The best advise I can give you is this. Go to the upper left corner of the main page and you will find a search bar. You can type in something like spider mites and result will come up. This forum is a wealth of knowledge you just have to learn how to apply it. At one time there were some pretty heavy hitters on this site. You can also look up their posts. In the same search bar look up member Jackmayoffer. Great information, to be honest I find some of the best content from post back 8 or more years. Some has changed but some has not!

80 is a little on the low side for LED's.. I shoot for 81 or 82 with plants in that week of flower.

I do not run auto's. I believe most do not top. There is a guy on here @Edinburgh. PM him. He has been running them for years so he would be a good source. Also try to make sure the advise you are getting is legit. There are people that come to this and other forums that just want to run up there comment number to look like a hot shot and such. There use to be a third listing of likes next to each members name but that went by the way side. Just because some gives advise it does not always mean it is good advise.

Yes as I stated low temperature for LED's. 81 to 82 is ideal for the week of flower you are in based on the picture I posted!

It's up to you really when to top or not to if it's your first time growing I wouldn't.

thanks for the advice. i thought this would be a legit place to come for help, but like everything on the internet you have to take everything with a grain of salt. that's to bad because i really thought this site would be full of people willing to help

You already have issues see the leaves. They are point down and some the tips up. They are not healthy. So figure out the issue before you blame the heat as the problem!
