So I bought a new digital timer, and had it set for the 12-12 light cycle for the beginning of flower. After the second day I found my light had not turned off at 10 PM like it should have, I found them at 5 in the morning, so i turned the light off and turned it back on at 10, so they only had 5 hours of dark.
Granted they had been on a 18-6 veg. cycle 2 days prior.
So Sunday was 18 hrs of light, 6 am-10 pm lights on, Monday first day of flower was 10 am - 10 pm, 12 hours lights on, Tuesday was the day of failure, 21 hours of light, 10 am - 5 am the next day. Turned lights off at 5 am until 10 am tuesday, where I went back to the 10 AM - 10 PM cycle. I don't know what if anything can happen from here, and should I have handled this differently? Hindsight 24 hours of dark may have been the best reaction. Anyone got any experience they can lend, and do I need to be concerned about them being messed up?

I don't think it will matter.

But maybe when you noticed it you could have left the light on until 10pm (extend that 21 hours of light to 38), then restart the 12/12 cycle by turning off lights at 10pm.

Or when you noticed, turn them off for 29 hours until 10am the next day. I may opt for this option.

Interrupting a dark cycle before 12 hours is what I would avoid.

I'd say not to worry. You were right in assuming 24 hrs dark would have been better. Some here put them in dark for 24 hrs at the begining of flower to jump start their flowering. Just keep them on them on the 12/12 and they'll be fine .
