Hi everyone!
I started growing my plant about 6 weeks ago after finding a seed in some product and seeing if I could sprout it. It sprouted, so I bought some Miracle Grow Moisture Control potting soil from Home Depot, potted it, and stuck it under a UV light in my garage. Very low tech, very bare bones set up. Despite this, the plant seemed to have been growing rather nicely. I decided to upgrade my setup to include a grow tent, ventilation and a better light about 48 hours ago. The first 24 hours were great, however in the past 12-18 the plant seems to be in distress and drooping pretty significantly. The soil is still damp from its previous watering yesterday, I am very careful not to overwater. Temperature has been a steady 75 degrees. I turned down the light intensity because that was my first thought, but would appreciate any other thoughts or observations.

I am a total beginner when it comes to this, and I have been trying my best to decipher best practices, but this is the first issue I have really run into. I had actually been shocked on how well it had been going up until this point. Hoping this can be salvaged, would hate to have messed this up after 6 weeks.

Thanks!

Are you watering enough every time you water.
same thing happened to me I was giving a half gallon every watering and I should have been giving them a gallon.
Should be 20% of container size.
not sure what size container you have

Are you keeping UV light on your plant all day? UV should only be used at intervals of 5-10 minutes every 1 hour.
What's your new light brand/model?
How high above plant?
What dimmer setting?
Temps and humidity?

What nutrients/supplements are you using?

I know light green can be a sign of nitrogen deficiency.
I've been lucky to not have dealt with really any nutrient deficiencies in the years I've been growing so I would wait for someone else to give input on that.

Can you take a closer picture of the top of the plant, like from above?

I have about a 2.5 Gallon pot and have been watering it about 20 oz each time. Based on the 20% of the container size, I should be watering more, which is good to know!

I currently leave the light on a 16 hours timer. The new light I just purchased along with the grow tent is a VIVOSUN VS1000 LED Grow Light which is hanging about 12 inches over the plant. Until this morning the light was set at 100%, but after a little reading it sounded like this was too close, and since I cant raise it currently I dropped it down to 50% one the dimmer, and plan to get a larger tent. Temp has been consistently at 73 degrees with about 52% humidity. I have not been adding anything besides water. I know I probably should be, but since up until this point things have appeared fine, I have been working under the "if its not broke, don't fix it" approach.

Cut your light down to about 40% and get it atleast 20” above your plant

Should recover well. Your light should never go above 50% in veg, even if its a bonk light. They dont need much

you may need to give some calcium due to the light intensity, but let it recover for a few days and get a good lights out picture to get an overhaul status for plant health

Thanks for the replies

At 12" above your plant, you may have to further reduced the intensity. My VS4000 in veg run at 30%-40% at 24"-30".
Once the plant is healthy again, you can cut a few nodes off and/or use some plant ties to bend the plant over so it's not quite as close to the light and will also help lower/side branches get more light.

Most nutrients that are already in the soil are used up within 3-6 weeks, I would say it's time to start feeding them.

Do you already have nutrients you will be using or not sure yet?

All good info, I really appreciate it. I've done a little research on nutrients, but am still not entirely sure. I understand its all about he NPK ratio, but haven't figured out what I need yet.

If you still have a bag of the soul flip it over and take a pic of the guaranteed analysis

If you want something pretty simple to use I recommend the General Hydroponics Flora Series of Nutrients, it's a 3 part system with Flora Micro, Grow, and Bloom. It's always good to have CalMag around as well, General Hydroponics makes that as well.
Plenty of other brands make a simple all you need 3 part system, quite a few people use the Fox Farm system as well.
Flora Series always worked well for me, I'm actually using it to finish up a grow now.
Here's the feed chart I always used, in case you decide to give it a try.

Amazing, thanks again, thats incredibly helpful. Ill definitely give it a shot, seems easy enough to follow, and will take the guess work out of the equation which is exactly what I need!

Can you not raise the light because the height of the tent is to short?
If that's the case and you end up getting a taller tent, you can always use the smaller tent to start plants in and then transfer to the bigger tent later on.
The AC Infinity tents are pretty nice, definitely thicker then most. I do have a Spider Farmer tent also but quailty is not as good as the AC Infinity tent.

Idk if you're in the USA but AC Infinity is having a 10% site wide sale plus you can stack a promo code MRGROWIT15 for an additional 10% off, plus orders over $100 ship free.

Thats exactly the problem, only 48" tall. I just ordered a new 72" one that will be here on Tuesday, so I dropped the dim to 25% in the mean time in hopes it gives it enough of a break. Fingers crossed. I just ordered the Flora nutrients as well.

One month out from this post and have definitely seen some dramatic improvement based on the tips I received. New soil, started a nutrient schedule based on the recommendation, new tent and new light. Started the 12/12 light cycle a week or so ago, so we will see how it goes
