Flushing.

Hey cannabis growers.

I need some advise in regards to Flushing. Ive read that the flush take between 7 - 14 days and the point is to have the soil ppm drop really low, like under 50.

Now what confuses me about this process, is this. Am I required to flush and drop the ppm below 50 on the 1st day of flush and allow the plant to cannabalize itself for the remainder of the Flushing period or do I gradually drop the ppm during the 2 weeks.

Any help would be much appreciated

Best results for me is to keep feeding but gradually lowering the strength to the end. I dont like to feed heavy so if i switch to water too soon they yellow out fast. Growers that over feed may have enough nutrients left in the soil to make it a couple weeks.

Flushing is merely a tool to use when salts have built up in the medium. Its actually called leaching in horticulture.

Its a shame that the forums and weed books have made everything an either/ or decision.

And if switching to water only is flushing it may or may not be neccessary depending on fertilizing habits.

I've been using GHE tripack sinch flowering began. I haven't given my ladies full strength nutes yet. I've been giving 3 quarter strength. Example, the recommended dosage on the bottle states 0.7, 1.4, 2.1 grow micro and bloom respectively. I've been give 2 quarters of that concentration. I gave them her some ripen as well for around 9 days. It's week 8 of flower and there's around 600 ppm in the soil as of Feb 2nd 2020. The leaves haven't started yellowing yet. In your opinion and based on the above, would you recommend an intense flush or should I just water with pH balanced water until they yellow out or until the 2 weeks are done.

At 600ppm (1.2ec) with 2 weeks to go i would just keep feeding light and taper off to water the last watering.

Yes I agree but again professional growers dont either or they do what is needed by the plants.

I did side by side tests with 3 sets of known clones 3 times for many of these common arguments. The plant fed properly to the end was more potent and had more yield each time.

I have done it myself with same strains just not same cuts. The plant feed to the end was much heavier and more potent as well compared to the plant flushed 2 week prior to chop. I usually flush my soil around week 6 in flower and follow with a feed, then stop the final week. I plan to chop the day before my feeds or at least try too.

that sounds crazy as hell,science ha,if the product is more potent from feeding until last feed before harvest right?
then a plant feed water or tapered down to last harvest right?
the side by side test shows thet the plant feed up to harvest was more potent,my conclusion would be your smoking some ones damn nutrients to make it more potent hahahah.
hell maybe that what i been doing wrong,cause first off you cant flush soil unless you make a mud pie of it,then it still does same thing it dies and leaves turn yellow,the soil is alive and will feed the plant until it has nothing else to offer,it isnt like peat moss or coco were all is put in the pot,if you see what i mean,so in reality flushing is just useless step,WITH SOIL,so if you have a 10 week plant feed the plant just water and let the plant decide when it wants to die and scavage itself,either way all the minerals are still in the soil,the plant died from it life span done ,or its envorment as in the season change and such things.

2 things to consider here. You suggest fertilizing with twice the ppm’s i tend to use even with a half pound plant. And even ocean forest is just a soiless medium once the nutrients have depleted and we are fertilizing instead.

Runoff is within a couple hundred ppms of my well water alone by the harvest.

you are correct as is ALL bag soil it is peat base mix,but there are other properties threw composing that make it live matter right,all the perlite in there aint life,the wood chips along with the humus and all the other little goodies make it life and also dig in deep to them chips and such and you still have nutrients,that why i like um along with char,storage of nutrients,these properties cut the feed bill way down ,lets say,my stored nutes are hell lot better than buying them and reapply ,reapply ,reapply,so with all my stored nutes how do you flush that out?
same goes for the buffer thang all talk of,suposedly the lime is the buffer,no clue,but know this,true soil ,true,doesnt have but one buffer,that is the soil itself regurdless of its fertility it is a buffer,take a shovel full and put in container and the water that filter threw it,not around it ,but threw it will be buffered because soil is a huge filter,the mass is the buffer not a singled out element,so by saying 2 weeks out start dropping down on your nutes slowly still makes no sense,you wonder why right,
MY THOUGHT AGAIN ALWAYS WRONG because i dont keep my head in a book how the hell can you put a date on a plants life cycle,how,when i breed my plants i only give a week cycle from several grows estimate from my area i live,with my reg grows ,i label nothing i age nothing,when the plant gets were i like to start flower i roll with it,from there on i watch the heads they say,if your not feeding a bunch bottle stuff your not smoking a bunch bottle stuff.
anyway it dont matter do what makes you comfortable,i had a bunch i deleted cause not getting into another battle with you and homes ,we agree to disagree again

And everyone likes it right out of the drying closet smokes pretty smooth right away.

never meant it to be,i dont recomend nothing either ,i do throw that scale up and thats what i go by,but i never go past 1000 on my own plants,really dont think i can using teas,the humbolt secret stuff i probally could,cant say i ever flushed at all either,when them thricoms are all cloudy and a few are amber,that bitch get snatch out there ,im just saying i cant see how you can flush soil,soiless and hydro yep ,cause you feed what the plant is,but still think your smoking nutes,now if you are using chemical in soil you could probally do what is called a flush,but still it is just mud,but with teas and microbes there is life and i reuse the shit out of my soil,i will amend time and again no doubt,i dont use stuff that kills the life is why,and i sure dont flush,i feed to runoff which is flushing if you want to include that as a flush.
besides that we all grow difrent and all with difrent methods ,thats what keeps it interesting,i dont instruct but do suggest at times.

With an extra 25% large perlite mixed into to ocean forest it does not turn to mud. It gives me the same drainage as pro mix hp.
