Hey Mota I see you rep the murder mitten. Just wondering if any of your gear has a piney smell/ flavor like some of the Christmas tree bud that used to float around the flint area. I havent seen any since the 90s n would love to crank some out of the ol basement. Thanks for any help famrers

I can still taste it! I wish i could've gotten my hands on some seeds. The dudes i knew all feared another grower would cut in on their profits and held the gems tightly.

I remember the Christmas tree buds....those were fire. I found a few phenos from seed over the years from various strains iv ran that had a similar smell to those buds but didn't really look or taste like those. ~Smf~

Thanks for weighing in guys. On another site some people where speculating that it was a nl5 pheno. But I thought nl was a relatively light smelling flower. Ive also read that some Larry phenos are very pinesol smelling. Maybe if I crack enough seeds I'll find one.

Nl5 is more on the skunk side...not as much as the nl6 but still I haven't seen any nl5 that was piney. As far as the Larry og goes....it's got a lemon/ kush type of smell with some dirt and earthy tones in it. The real pinesol smell goes its def the sfv og. But that's a lemon type pinesol smell. Not the pine needle type of smell your looking for in the christmas buds you remember. Closest to smell and taste thru seed form iv came across is a pheno I found in some stardawg IX beans I popped a few years ago. There was a really strong pine needle type smell and smoke that came from just this one pheno...even looked a lil similar to the Christmas trees but obviously was different

Thanks for the input. Sounds like you've cracked your share of beans. As far as stardawg I never heard of it till now and I plan on looking into it. I grabbed a couple pic n mix seeds of sour og and deadhead og hoping I would get an sfv leaning pheno. I figured with the crosses used if I got a mix of both or a representation of either I would be happy. My deadhead pheno is citrusy/ rotten fruit with big but not dense buds that did purple. Decent smoke but no expansion therefor not a keeper lol. Between freebies and a bunch of pic n mix seeds ive found only one keeper. Amd now ready to pheno hunt a couple of statins and just lookin for info. You have been very insightful again thanks.

The christmas tree i used to get had a strong piney/chemically taste and almost left your mouth tingling on exhale,Shit was light as hell too,not larfy light but a 1/4 oz would fill a baggy with about 3 fingers,sometimes 4 of nice nugs.Mid toLate 70's,it was some of the first dank i came across,lots of commercial and homegrown before that and hardly any bud,cant beleive we used to smoke so much leaf lol,that shits trim for hash now.Man if you would have told me a single seed would be worth 10-20 bucks back then i would have been a billionaire,better than buying microsoft stock lol.

I also , being a midwest kid, remember the piney herb... Very unique and imho a flavor that would bot be mistaken for anything else.

Last time I had any was on my 18th birhtday, so after twenty years I figured it just wasnt around anymore... would love to taste that again!

We got that pinecone on lock across the border. It is not shared but flowers are around.
Club folk in the 810 represented things well in the late nineties with that cut.
