Just finished harvesting my grow so now I'm ready to start another.

I got a bag of buildasoil 3.0. 1 cubic feet. I also got the craft blend and flower topdress. I'm cheap and didn't want to buy another bag or 2.

I have some fresh Happy Frog soil left, and some old HF soil from last grow. I'm doing two 7gal pots until I get an earth box.

Is there an issue combining the soil? BaS is supposed to be water only but mixed with other soil, I'm assuming I'm going to need nutes or will the craft blend be enough?

Also should I use worm casings and perlite as well? I also have dr. Earth ammendmants if needed.

Thanks.

I just went ahead an bought another bag of 3.0 and a bag of lite mix. These should be fine to mix together.

Still unsure if I should add worm casings and perlite, but I'll see when it arrives.

I’m not sure about mixing BAS with other soil but I can imagine it would have an impact on the intended performance to where you would need supplemental nutrition. What plants are you working on this go?

I would
Use the lite mix to start seedling and transplant into the 3.0. Add some basalt to the 3.0. If you are trying to save some soil I would build horizons in your pots. Leighton Morrison has a few good videos on how to build the layers

Thanks. I'll check the videos out. I've never transplanted before. Been afraid of shocking the plants. I gotta learn sometime hahaha

The 3.0 and light have pumice already, I’d add your amendments, earthworm castings the craft blend and flower top dress and let ‘em rip, you’re better off with buying the BaS than mixing the happy frog, so you did what I woulda done and just bought it lol, I have promix BX-M I’m gunna mix with a bag of light recipe for the 3x3 when I set up that 12 gallon so I’ll see how they do blended

I’m running a mix of the Dominion Blend and Light recipe in my 30 gals

And @Natep knows his shit with organics / living soil 🤘I’d suggest taking the advice he gives if you start a journal tag me!

Thank you. I hope to have everything ready by next weekend. Soil should be here by Thursday.

Basalt dust? Any recommendations? I saw some by Gaia green. Also do I mix it in with the soil or just use as top dress?
