Fox Farm Nutes

Hi all, I am wondering the general thoughts about FF products?
I am using them already but I am also new to this and wonder about better nutes /recipes.
I started with FFOF soil but have since moved to Promix BX because its local and more for the same price.
Thanks for any and all feedback .

Hey fotpharmer,
I use their line up including the boosters, seem to work for me just fine. Quite easy to use, have thought about trying something different but don't want to deal with the hassel of dialing in a new line so I'm satisfied with what fox farms is doing for me
I too am growing in pro-mix and if your using the boosters make sure to flush good at the end. Grow on, Fred
Just noticed your in organic soil fourm, only the Big Bloom is organic the Grow Big,Tiger and powders aren't, Fred

What ratios are you feeding them, if you don't mind me asking? Which boosters are you reffering too?

Go to the Fox Farm website...they have a bunch of boosters like Beastie Bloomz, Tiger Bloom, etc. Their site has some good info and also lists the labels from the back of the bottles.

Fox Farm has the organic aura but their line is more of an an intermediary between synthetic and organic. The last I heard, only 2 of their products are free of synthetics and those aren't OMRI listed which, doesn't necessarily negate a product, but is something I would expect a large, commercial outfit (ie can afford the hassle and is selling an organic product), to want to show off. Maybe seems nit-picky on the surface, but some perspective worth thinking about.

I have enjoyed the dry fertilizer in their Peace Of Mind line and recently had to reup to their replacement line, Happy Frog. I use these dry mixes to partly amend used fox farm soils. Also I use small amounts of Big Bloom for supplemental feedings between some teas.

They have a new myco liquid that has positive feedback on the forums that I may try down the road.

So you just use soil, teas and big bloom? What kind of soil do you use? What do you put in your teas?

if you run the trio dry additives try them at 80% strength they are strong and can burn your girls up. gonna give it a try this run and got the insight from someone who has really did some impressive things with this line.

It only needs to be 95% organic to be labeled organic. Many lines of pure organics are not OMRI listed, cuz they don't want to pay for the listing. The entire General Organics line is all organic and not OMRI certified.

You're right. I'll amend my statement: something I would expect a large, commercial outfit (ie can afford certification and is willing to go through the hassle), to want to show off. Better?
I'm fairly certain that there are different standards for different products. I know that emulsified fish, for instance, allows 1% non-organic. What products are 95% and where did the figures come from?

Personally, I don't think a discussion about the FoxFarm line, (w/ the exception of a few individual prods) even belongs here, unless it's being used to contrast organics w/ syn-organics.

... of course the Fox Farm marketing team doesn't have any problems seeing the line discussed here. Do you think that the FF product names and graphics weren't well thought through? It's to their advantage to keep the org-syn line blurred and have it both ways- organic ingredients/aura/price point, (cheap synthetic additives.)

There's a nutrient test that puts a few different brands against one another, and Fox Farms full line is included in the test. I saw it on ICMag (I won't link to it), but the guy who did the test posted on The Farm under the name BayArea about his hygrozyme findings.

I've also read very good things about their Kangaroots, and what I've read mostly claims it's comparable to Great White. I looked for it on the two online grow stores I buy from, but neither site is carrying the Kangaroots yet, unfortunately.

I also think this thread should be moved out of the organic area. I feel that there is some misunderstanding when it comes to Fox Farms and whether or not it's organic.

Oh I reuse my old soil, mostly Ocean Forest. I don't buy much soil anymore except for clones here and there. Thats why I use their dry mixes, to re-amend old used soils. lol yeah there would be burning going on if you put anything extra in Ocean Forest fresh out of the bag!

Teas; check this forum you'll find lots of recipes. But the basics is Molasses, Maxi Crop, & Earth Worm Castings.

I don't know how many % organic Big Bloom is but for what it is worth I have a story. I had like a 5+ year old stash of the original FF nutes and wrote to them asking if I could still use them. They reassured me Big Bloom was the only one of the three that was truly organic and because of that it should be even better than it was they day I bought it. I posted their email on RIU a couple years ago. I used the rest of the bottle ;)

Im about to start up running almost exactly like you optic MSMix with teas...then i will re use it...lot of people knock FF but i have always liked the herb it produces, even with their non organic products...dude at my shop likes kangaroots alot...just my cents...gl to you NM...peace n puffs

Thanks to you all for the information. I do apologize if i posted in the wrong place. My continuing horticulture education continues......
I guess i didn't do enough research in the beginning about organics.
I do like the end results im getting from my FF nutes and im using them like the directions say. Well i use a tad bit less with the Beastie blooms,open sesame and cha ching.
I also use cal-mag and good ole black strap molasses.

I used Fox Farm for several years at several garden sites with many, many different strains. I switched to different nutrients after two years of using FF and never looked back. I have been thoroughly unimpressed with anything FF makes, wether it be nutrients or soil. Their products are not consistent, especially their soil, and the majority of what they make is not really organic and not approved for organic agriculture. I am getting better yields, better quality, and spending less money doing so since I dumped the Fox Farm line up. IMO Fox Farm is one of the lowest quality nutrient and soil companies out there; they would be one of my last choices to use at this point.
