Fungus Gnats @ Week 5/6

Hey Cap I have been using your packs religiously this run, making teas and periodically foliar spraying the foliar pack. I am still noticing whiteflies/gnats. I put down some diatomaceeous earth and put those yellow sticky traps on all my plants. I know I have read that you don't spray anything beyond week 4. Is it defnitely too late for me to get another foliar pack spray in or should I just do a soil drench? I am still feeding with the tea once a week but I want to avoid any issues when I harvest, Thanks!!!.

the foliar pack as a drench will help with FG larvae. It takes a bit to break the cycle, as the microbes have to come out of stasis, excrete proteins... then these proteins are eaten by the larvae, and it fucks up their digestive track. OR other microbes may use the larvae as a host and infect it and then grow out on it, killing it by basically turning it in to more fungi. A constant presence of the foliar pack tea int eh root zone is like having a little army in there along with a bunch of landmines for the bugs.

I personally dont spray past week 4 or 5 because sometimes even if I am tryign to just get the leaves, the liquid drips down the leaf stem and right in to the core of the bud. This can easily cause ROT. I woudl much rather haev a few whitefly, mites, or gnats, then get budrot. It spreads fast and you can't prevent it... Once you have it you need to just start chopping out your best flowers to try and avoid additional spread.

Yeah true dat Cap...fuck losing buds. In your opinion would you do a straight foliar pack drench or just keep feeding with ACT? With the drench how much foliar pack should I use/gal of water? Since I grow organically in soil do you think I should be feeding the ACT while I "flush" with water and molasses the lastcouple feedings?

Just make sure they are fungus gnats. Late in cycle flyers are often worse.

IMHO you can use the ACT and the foliar pack @ 1 tablespoon per gallon of tea. However, at this late int he game you may want to just ride it out. Cort is right. If they are RA then you have a totally different beast. In this case use the FP all the way to the end.

I'd like to add to what Cap and Cort said.. Def double check and make sure you don't have root aphids, if they are indeed RA's then its a different ball game, if you do have flying RAs you should be able to spot the crawlers on your pots or on top of the soil near the main stem.. Next I would make sure you're not keeping the soil too wet, this can attract gnats.. I would concentrate on ridding your medium of the bugs and not worry too much about foliar sprays and let the sticky's do their thing and keeping monitoring your sticky traps.. Another thing to look into is adding insect frass into your tea program..

i've never had swarms on my tables or anything before, but i've had RAs bad enough to where the tops of pots were crawling, and i've used the tea and foliar to knock em back. it's hard to get rid of the fliers especially when they're established late flower, but sticky traps are the best. also get some of that thicker duct taping with the paper backing and put it on the sides of your lights.that, air circulation under the canopy, and traps under your canopy is pretty effective as well as hitting them with a stronger tea brew during the transitional weeks.
