What's up Farmers. I just got a new galaxy 600 watt 'switchable/dimmable' digital ballast, but would like to run it at 400 watts for veg. The person at the hydro store was telling me to just turn down the dial to the 400 watt mark and plug in my old 400 watt mh bulb...
My question is, is it preferred to use a 600 watt bulb and just turn it down to the 400 watt mark, or is it better to use a 400 watt bulb at the 400 watt setting?... Or does it not even matter??
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I been told from the manufacturer of my digil up and cap.nano extreme to use the size bulb for the wattage your selecting. Not sure if that goes for galaxy but it would make sense.he said dimming a 600 will change the color and shorten the life of the bulb.
+1 for changing the bulbs to fit your wattage selection...exactly why I stear away from the ballasts that do odd wattage numbers and percentages of power.
