Gavitas will work but you need to go with 750's not 1ks with 8' ceilings.I have 750s now and used to have Awings with solis teks on a flip before them and cannot complain one bit about them either, both are great.Gavitas are brighter and yield better for me,the 750 DE's easily replace a standard 1k so there is an energy savings to consider too.Good luck, cant go wrong either way.

Ive always had good yeild with gavitas but always at higher up and 1k. I'll make sure to keep my drain tables low so I can get as much length as I can

315 w CDL

big lights look cool but 315s pay the bills.

seriously...stop thinking in grams per watt and start thinking pounds per amp.

a pound per amp of course!

a 315w pulls 1.35 amps, so you're shooting for 1.3 lbs a light. I have seen 1.2 multiple multiple times and have a buddy swearing his DWC setup pulls 1.5 per 315 but I haven't seen that room since he redesigned it.

Regardless, the average yield off a good 315 setup is a pound a light, break that down to GPW and you're at 1.3 gpw on a normal run. 1.3 gpw with a gavita would mean you're still only pulling around 1/2 lb per amp since gavitas run @ 4.4 amps on 240...you'd have to routinely hit 4lbs/light to keep up with a 315 in terms of your electrical usage.

WS,So what does a good 315 setup look like? Are we talking 1 light over each 3x3 tray or 5 over a 4x8 like fourteener does?Im curious how people are arriving at the pound plus per light your talking about.Im going to do 3-5 of them when i have a chance to see how they do against the gavitas(750s)which are doing around 1.5 now but thats not very good using 3.5 amps per light and your pound per amp calculation. Also curious as to what brand 315 you think is best, lots of different reflector/ballast choices now, thanks.

Generally you want to light a 3x3 space with each light...some people claim 2x2 but that might be for one individual light in flower. I've done them in a 4x4 for veg and I'd say that's pushing it.

There great on heat, good trichome production, great colors in the flowers, great lumen maintenance, cons: not full potential of flowering sites, more tedious trimming, more systems to purchase, more space used, more space between internodes. . . With all the spectrums 2,4,6,10k that solistek has in their double ended bulbs, you can really customize what your trying to do with your plants at certain times and maximize your quality/yield . . .i know a few guys in co pullin 3-4 a light in 4x4 which I'd be really stoked on, rather than .9-1.2 in a 3x3. That being said I have 10 Grobal's and 12 catalyst lighting I'm lettin go for 250 apiece if you guys want a deal on the current trends, all great condition used from 2-6 months. I'm pretty sure the catalyst is the newest, most efficient technology on the market. The ballast is dimmable and remote so u can place it 66ft away if you want.

Se drew 4.4 amps. ?? This is my first run with the gavita 600 se and hands down beating the 315. This is in a 4x4 tent with a 3x3 canopy.

yeah the gavita 600 will def yield more than a 315, but 2 315s will outperform the gavita every time. You sacrifice sq footage with 315s but you cut your power drastically. It's more beneficial in a commercial application - once you get to the point where the power bill is more than your rent the transition starts to make sense.

but yeah - 4.4 amps to yeild a pound and some change is just absurd once you start growing under 315s
