Hi.

I'm trying to understand the basics of organic soil recipe.

If one were to start with something like happy frog or pro mix (kind of similar I think right?) and wanted to expand organic ingredients for a mostly water only grow, it's it enough to add one source of NPK each? And then one source of calcium and or magnesium and then the micro nutrients etc.? Or its it OK with organic to have extra stuff or multiple sources of same nutrients

Asking bc I bought a bunch of organic ingredients but am wondering if it makes sense to add too many things that have multiple ingredients bc I don't want to over feed.

I had nitrogen toxicity issue 2x although I was using ffof and thats hotter than happy frog

This is what I have. Photo

I just added the Gaia 284 to 2 3gal pots that I flipped 2 days ago. Was going to add some worm castings but then I realized I don't know why I would. I should know why I am adding something. This is my issue lol.

Only have 2 plants successfully harvested and many fails. Trying to learn more. Was using ff trio nutes but I prefer organic now that my feet are starting to get wet

These are all on day 34 of flower.
I use 1.6 gallon container with promix and I top dress with Gaia green 444 and 284 bloom every 2 weeks and just add water ph of 6.5.
Vegetative I use the 444 at 1 tablespoon per gallon of soil.
Pre flower I put 1 tablespoon of each and mix it up with top of soil.
2 weeks later I use just the 284 bloom and repeat every 2 weeks without missing weeks. Organics is time released and very important that you hit your timeline every 2 weeks. Around day 35 is the last time I add the 284 bloom and water when needed until harvest

When growing with organics, the more diverse amendments the better. It gives your plant a bigger “buffet” to choose from. Just make sure the ratios and you’ll be fine. For example I use craft blend from buildasoil and it contains 15 different amendments. That Gaia Green from the post above I think has a similar amount. Proper ratios is key and top dress every couple weeks so it has time to break down and become plant available. Use recharge or great white or something similar to help break the minerals down faster. Also, fox farm and Promix are 2 different products. Fox Farm has compost and other amendments added where Promix is just Peat and Perlite. Fox Farm would be better if you are using containers like 5 or 7 gallons, but if you want a living soil and use 15+ use Promix, you’ll add everything to the peat mix and let it cook for a week and then you can plant into it. If you build your own, look up buildasoil recipe or coots or super soil.

I see Dolomite lime in there. Don’t use that, unless you are really familiar with it. The calcium and magnesium ratios are way off and can cause lock out. Switch that out for gypsum if anything.

Every 2 weeks huh... I thought it was every 4 weeks. Maybe that's why I had phosphorus deficiency recently. That plant died due to other reasons. Rip.

So I guess I over bought and over complicated things.

Will follow the recharge addition advice and every 2 weeks advice...
I stopped phing though. Got tired of it for one. Not sure if it matters and haven't noticed any issues since not pH ing.

Ty 4 cautioning any dolomite lime
