Does anyone have information on how a glass lens affects the light spectrum or intensity of the light emitted from an HID bulb?

Thanks!

The guy at the grow store i go to said it will decrease the light intensity so durring the winter when hes not air cooling them he removes the lens.

It is not so much as an intensity loss as a spectrum loss. A greenhouse manufacture did a study on this. if you google it it should pop up.jk

2% on each optical face where there is a change in the index of refraction due to reflection. depending on the type of glass there can be some spectral filtering. But not in the visible spectrum, mostly uv. the glass encased reflector isn't just for cooling...its there for your protection. if you ever seen a hps explode, then you know what i mean.
