Spared a couple of my other plants, but another unpictured is now missing half of her leaves. One of the plants pictured is about 3’. Also ate pepper, zucchini, eggplants, and my tomato plants. Heartbreaking. What a gluttonous little jerk.

Man, that would be so heartbreaking. I have a couple outside as well, and I check on them every morning, praying something hasn't gotten to them.

We have all the critters too. Groundhogs under neighbor's deck, in the hedgerow, in the uncut acre 1000 feet away. They are menaces. But what freaked me out was the male deer that stood his ground while I was yelling, clapping and walking towards him. Apparently I was invading HIS domain, so I backed up towards the patio, turned around, then out of the corner of my eye saw him trotting towards me. I made a mad dash for the door. LOL
Now I have to figure out how to discourage the chipmunks from digging in my garden.

BTW, I had the groundhog and deer both sample weed leaves but neither liked 'em. Yours has a refined palette. LOL

Time to declare war on the whistle pig. Or just put a fence around your plants. You can get a roll of cheap fencing at Lowes or somewhere similar that will keep out deer and woodchucks. The damn trash pandas will still get in and eat my green tomatoes though.

These creatures are brazen! On the one hand, we are the visitors and it is in fact their domain. But dammit, my plants! I feel like nature is starting to push back. Again, I respect it. But my plants! We have been fighting these woodchucks for 40 years. We have fencing, fox urine, we've tried those ultra sonic machines (they work for inches from the sound, don't bother with them.), bells, all the things. They always get in a little nibble here and there, but in recent years, they've gotten a taste, and it's particularly egregious.

The wages of not putting up a fence! It doesn’t even have to be permanent! Mine goes up and down every season! Or you could maybe try a hot wire at about woodchuck height! Oh well! Good luck with it!

I used wood pallets around my garden and then wrapped them with chicken wire. So far, so good! definitely more permanent, but if kept small, can be very easily moved to a new location!

You know, I did that last year and I THINK it may have deterred him/her/it. Course, seeing an old lady in her nightclothes jumping up and down yelling may have spooked them a little. LOL

I had rats stealing buds in the middle of the night over my winter grow. And something significantly larger that made off with a couple whole branches one night and a trail of bud crumbs the direction it left. That was when I had a Popeye moment (That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more!) and built a Screenhouse to keep everything safe. A week later the rats chewed through. Had to upgrade by adding a foot and a half of 1/4 inch mesh along the bottom. They've not bothered anything in there since.

I remember being out in the Sierras and going out for a day hike. When we get to the end of the dirt road there’s 6-8 cars of overnighting backpackers and all the cars were wrapped in chicken wire. We’re like WTF? So drive back to a ranger station a couple miles and inquire. “Oh yeah, if you don’t put up the wire the marmots will chew all the rubber hoses, belts, engine mounts, etc. No one knows why.” Not having any chicken wire we left our car at the ranger station and walked back to the trail head.

Yeah, that is a big problem! It’s in all the warnings now! Bring a big tarp. Spread it out. Drive onto it. Then pull it up and secure it! There were signs at the trailhead we used in Sequoia, but we never got chewed up! We were going pretty late in the year though! You’re supposed to kind of diaper your car! Marmots are symbols of the high country! I love them!

Rats and squirrels chew car wires, and many manufacturers made the problem worse by switching to a soy based biodegradable wire insulation that is literally edible to them.

You’re damn lucky. Those rats only got a few branches! They are infamous for girdling the stalk! Drop that plant like it was gut shot! Mice do it too! And to a lesser extent, rabbits!

ive heard that before, i had a boss once who bought a new range rover and 3 days after getting it , it wouldnt move.. no one could work out why so he called out a mechanic who found that a squirrel had sat on the back axle and chewed through the brake line, so the car disabled itself.
they dont seem to like the sonic repellents

They chew on anything! If they don’t chew and keep their teeth short, they die! They’re not particular! They have to wear their teeth down just as fast as they grow!
