Tests show the IR from the 1000w even dialed down is extreme. I would agree otherwise. Price difference is negligible. Also over and under volting in any other electrical system reduces useful life. So if you don't need the 1000's why buy them? Just to dial it down? But then it's kinda all a moot point. I tend to like to be as efficient as possible. Think I've got OCD.1000's can be adjusted

Ther may even be an 880w but I don't remember. Anyway why would you buy a 750w fixture when you could just dim a DE 1k?

If what? obviously they're variables but relevant ones.
According to gavita the 750's work MUCH more efficiently in the 600-825 watt range than a dimmed 1000de,even though you can do it the 1k bulbs are loosing efficiency the more you dial them down.I agree 100% that the 1k gavita ballast(remote ballast/not complete fixture)is more versatile,a 1k remote ballast dialed down powering a 600w bulb for example would not have the same losses as dimming a 1000 watt bulb down to 600 and if you chose to run at 1000 watts in the future a bulb change and voila.Well, if you wanted to crank it up you would have the option with the 1k's.
Who knows, maybe you will need 1000's someday.
You may want to just get 600's. 750's may be too bright for a standard 8' ceiling, and then you will be dialing down anyway.

Out of curiousity cap are you powering a 1000w lamp and dimming with the remote ballasts or just dialing down the ballast to power a 600w lamp?
And you're killing it!!!Right now I'm running 40k in a 1200sqft area and doing 96# every 60 days.im short on the 2.5# by 24#. :wtf: Gotta tighten up son.
