Hi. I’ve been lurking around the Farm and other various forums for a while now. I’ve learned SHIT TONS from reading these sites and thought I’d share something.
This method applies to people using flood and drain tables in a tent.
I haven’t seen this done before and it’s VERY useful.
Generally when using a flood and drain tray, the tray sits on a table. The Res then sits below the table and water is fed from the res, via a pump, to the tray. The tray is then drained, via gravity, back to the res. ( I realize that is ridiculously redundant but bear with me)
Your average tent is 6.5-7.5 ft. tall. After you install your tray and hang the lights there is very little room left for the plants. It is almost necessary to do a scrog or sog with very little veg time.
This is exactly what I planned to do… but I had a cal-mag deficiency (I think) @ the time I planned to flower. so I corrected the problem, vegged a bit longer and waited for them to get healthier. They did and I flipped them to 12/12. Well 4 weeks later and they were almost touching the light, even with the reflector attached directly to the cross-beam. So I came up with this…
The idea REALLY simple, and anyone who’s had this problem just might kick themselves in the ass for not thinking of it themselves.
Okay so here it goes… I raised the tent onto a stage. Then placed the trays directly onto the tent floor/ stage-top. The res goes below the stage and you just cut a small hole in the bottom of the tent for the flow tubes.
And if you’re not the building type or can’t use power tools due to stealth reasons there’s no need to worry. I built my stage out of cinder blocks and wood.
In case you’re wondering…
My Setup:
-5x10 Tent
-(2) 1000 W. lights aircooled lights
-Lights cooled by 6” Vortex
-Generic 6” 450 cfm fan attached to carbon filter extracting spent air
-60 liter per day dehumidifier
-2 small and 1 large oscillating fans
and here’s the inside…
18 days into flower
25 days since 12/12- I count the first wk as a transition period
